Dave Cooper was made a Baron jointly by the East and the Midrealm during the 22nd great Pennsic War, held at Cooper’s Lake, his home. He loved and served the SCA for the many years that Pennsic has come to Cooper’s Lake, not only running the War Room, but making the roads we are all so familiar with.”

Condolences to the family
I never knew him but knew OF him. Pennsic has become home to me. We all mourn his passing and our thoughts are with his family.
Damn –
Due to my own family med crises, I knew Dave had died months ago but only discovered the date today – Cindy told me he had wanted to come to last Pennsic, at least for a few hours, but was too ill even for that.
The last time I saw ‘The Dave’ was at Pennsic 43, when, condolence card in hand for him, after the death of his wife a week before War, I jumped into a random Cooper Green golfcart& asked for a ride to see Dave Cooper – and an old, old man looked at me and said “I am Dave Cooper”, a guy I’d only known since P19 – and seen every year since. “Well, I did a bit of shavin’ ” he said – at the time I knew he was at death’s door, but hell, what can you say? I told him Fools’ Rest Encampment was very upset over his wife’s passing – “being here with all my friends makes it easier” he said.
I was terribly surprised the guy with the Marlboro in his mouth that year was able to make it through last year’s war, perhaps he wanted to be sure, somehow, just making sure his son didn’t mess up.
If there is an afterlife, I’m sure Barons Matt and Dave are gonna be keeping us under control, strange words from a Jewish Agnostic,
God IU’m in bad shape, Barron Mack? Cooper – editors please change and adj
