Duke Timothy of Arindale invites fighters and fencers to attend the Ædult Swim Fighter and Fencing Practice on Saturday, February 20 and Sunday, February 21, from 10 am to 5 pm each day at the Milton Shoe Factory, 700 Hepburn St. Milton, PA 17847. Map here.

The room where the practice will be held is roughly 120′ x 160′, with more than adequate ceiling height for polearms. There will be plenty of room even with fencers and fighters sharing the space.

This practice is attracting some of the premier fighters and fencers from across the Society, including 3 sets of Royalty, from Æthelmearc, Atlantia, and the East.

Heavy Weapons
There will be numerous Dukes and Chivalry, many from Æthelmearc, as well as Duke Gregor von Heisler and Duke Kelson von Heidelberg of the East, Duke Sean Kirkpatrick and Duke Timur Jochan from Artemesia, and Duke Sven Randullsson and Duke Lochlan Dunn from Ansteorra. In addition, as many as six female Knights are expected to attend.

Heavy fighting will feature over 15 classes taught by members of the Chivalry as well as free time for pickup fighting. Fighters will also be able to authorize at this practice. There will be two classrooms set up for the heavies with courses over each day. There will also be two lists that will be taped all day to go to the video playback at the post revel on Saturday. If you want to learn how to be a better fighter, don’t miss this opportunity to learn from some of the best in the SCA!

Rapier
Fencing classes are being coordinated by Doña Elena d’Artois. Master Aedan Aylwyn from Atlantia will be there to teach Giganti’s One True Guard, Italian Rapier from the Waist Up, Tempo and Measure, and How to Practice Melee at Home Practices. In addition, Master Alesone Gray of Cranlegh from the East Kingdom is joining us to teach Longsword and Destreza, while Mistress Fredeburg von Katzenellenbogen will be teaching a class on German Sword and Buckler.

The rapier schedule for Saturday:

  • 10-12:30 – Classes
  • 12:30 – Double elim Tourney in the Bedford speed tourney style. A bear pit tourney is possible if there is interest. Also, space will be available for singles sparring during this time.
  • 1:30 – or as soon as the tourney is over we will be doing melee and melee games.
  • Once melee practice is over there will be plenty of time for singles sparring as well until everyone has as much fighting as they want.

Sunday the plan is similar.
