The Court of Their Majesties, Timothy and Gabrielle opened in Æthelmearc Royal Encampment on Tuesday, August 1, Anno Societatis LII, during Haakon Oaktall’s Annual Celebration of the Bardic Arts, did Their Majesties, Timothy and Gabrielle, presented Viscountess Eleanor of Waldren with an Augmentation of Arms, and to present Viscount Sir Haakon Thorvaldson, known as Oaktall, with Heraldic Supporters of two hounds. A drinking horn for Eleanor and a spear for Haakon were presented as tokens. The combined scroll is a work in progress by Sophie Davenport with text by Master Fridrikr Tomasson.

On Thursday, August 3, Anno Societatis LII, in the merchant area, Their Majesties asked Lady Una von Rabenwald, called Oonaugh, to come forward.  For her work sharing research and teaching Persian and Indian garb as well as fiber arts, Their Majesties inducted her into the Order of the Keystone.  The scroll was created by the hand of Lady Edana the Red.

Their Majesties next asked Lord Drogo Rabenwald to step forward.  For his beautiful work in Metal and blacksmithing, Their Majesties, after counsel with Their Order, did induct him into the Order of the Fleur d’Æthelmearc and grant him Arms thus titling him The Honorable Lord Drogo Rabenwald.  The scroll was a work by THLady Abigail Kelhoge.

Later that evening, in the camp of the Shire of Ballachlagan, Their Majesties called before Them, Conwre Ravenson to discuss how helpful he has shown himself to be to his shire with set up and tear down from many events.  Further, They saw how diligently he worked as timekeeper at Pennsic and were moved to Award him Arms thus making him a Lord of the court.  The scroll was by Lady Edana the Red.

Their Majesties also called for Sienna Ravenshaw to present herself unto Them.  Having been advised of her tireless endeavors to keep the Shire of Ballachlagan running smoothly as a waterbearer, as a troll at the gate and with set up and tear down from events, They were moved to make her a member of the Order of the Keystone and thereby confer upon her an Award of Arms.  Lady Sienna’s scroll was a work by Mistress Arianna of Whynthrope.

On Saturday, August 5, Anno Societatis LII, at the AEdult Swim Pennsic Edition Pas d’Arms, Their Majesties thanked those gentles in attendance from all over the Known World and asked that they please be patient whilst matters concerning Æthelmearc were attended to.

Their Majesties called forth The Honorable Lord Tegrinus de Rhina.  Having seen his prowess upon the Rattan field increase and noting his willingness to travel far and wide to learn and teach the art of combat, Their Majesties felt it fitting to ensure that he consider taking his place among the peerage.  They invited before Them the most noble Order of the Chivalry present and asked that they take His Lordship forth to sit vigil in contemplation of becoming a member of said Order.

Their Majesties bid Sir Stevan Ulfkellson to remain before Them.  Knowing of his extensive research into the Viking way of life and arts as well as his woodworking skill, They invited before Them those members of the Order of the Laurel present and asked Sir Stefan to consider joining this noble Order.  They advised They would confer with him further to accept his response once he had sought the counsel of his peers.

Their Majesties then called for Baron Eric Grenier de Labarre, known as Grendel, to present himself before Them.  Their Majesties spoke on how grateful They were to find Themselves the first King and Queen able to create members of the Order of Defense when They were last upon the thrones.  They were pleased with how far the Order had expanded since then, but felt it was lacking still.  They invited before Them the Masters of Defense present and asked they take forth Baron Grendel to give him wise counsel so that he might answer Their summons and answer if he would take his place amongst his peers of the Order.

On Monday, August 7, Anno Societatis LII upon the battlefield prior to the Field Battle, Their Majesties called before them the Order of the Chivalry, and finding the number lacking, called forth Baroness Beatrix Kreiger.  For the Order of the Rose, Countess Caryl Olesdatter spoke on Baroness Beatrix’s fierce and brave heart, how she inspires and will continue to inspire. For the Order of the Laurel, Meisterin Felicitas Flußmüllnerin spoke on how an artist looks for inspiration and needs to teach, and how Baroness Beatrix was that inspiration and leads and teaches freely. For the Order of the Pelican, Sir Murdoch Bayne spoke on how Baroness Beatrix inspires new generations, sets the bar to show newcomers that “I can do that too” and that is a great service. For the Order of Defense, Master Benedict Fergus atte Mede spoke on Baroness Beatrix’s defense of the Kingdom, but further her joy and delight in being a warrior. For the Order of the Chivalry, Duke Magnus Tindal spoke of the chivalric virtue of Renown and how Baroness Beatrix was known throughout the known world, and how she was the example of what chivalry is and how it can inspire. The following regalia was presented: spurs made by made by THL Kai Saer Pren, presented by Sir Jan Javonivich; a belt presented by THL Thorsol Solinauga; a cloak made by Meisterin Felicitas Flußmüllnerin and Freiherrin Helena Mützhasen, presented by Duchess Etain ingen Dalaig. The ancestral chain was brought forth by Sir Morgan of Rye, who recited the lineage of the Knights of Æthelmearc . Baroness Beatrix swore fealty to the Crown and was further presented with a legacy chain presented by Sir Rowan de la Garnison on behalf of Sir Sichelgaita von Halstern, with instructions to pass it on to someone worthy; and a personal chain made by Baron Ulrich Drachendonner of both new links as well as links from the chains of Sir Yngvar the Dismal, Sir Murdoch Bayne, and Sir Magnus Tindal. King Timothy, with the assistance of Earl Yngvar the Dismal, then dubbed Baroness Beatrix a Knight of the Society by letters Patent. His Majesty then delivered the buffet. Later that same day, upon the battlefield at the conclusion of the 10 Man Battle, Their Majesties called forth The Honorable Lord Ulrich von Swartzburg.  Their Majesties having seen the prowess of this man in battle and the noble bearing with which he comports himself did feel it a worthy thing that They were to do.  They invited before Them the most noble Order of the Chivalry and having taken counsel from this order did ask them to take THL Ulrich forth and conduct him to his vigil for contemplation into their Order.

In the Barony Marches of the Debatable Land’s dinner at Æthelmearc Royal Encampment that afternoon, Their Majesties called forth Lord Kumagaya Kentarou Masamoto.  For his work in the Thrown Weapons community running practices and ranges and volunteering for any work needing done, They inducted him to the Order of the Keystone.  The scroll was by Lady Edana the Red.

That evening, in the camp of Talbot’s Keep, Their Majesties, invited Sir Stevan Ulfkellson before Them. Having sat vigil and contemplated that day, he answered that yes, he would indeed accept elevation to the Most Noble Order of the Laurel.  Syr Hrothgeirr and Sir Alric of the Mists spoke as The Order of Chivalry.  Master James Irvin known as Quinn Kerr spoke as Master of Defense.  Viscountess Isegerdr spoke as a Pelican. Duchess Ilish O’Donovan spoke as a Lady of the Rose. It was noted that Her Grace spoke of Stefan’s kindness and generosity. giving of his knowledge, sharing his ideas, and his hospitality to open his home and his workshop to others.  Duke Duncan von Halstern spoke as a Royal Peer.   Mistress Marsi of Hadley spoke as a Laurel.   Then, Their Majesties received his oath and created Stefan a member of the Order of the Laurel.  As reported by herald at large Baron Magnus de Lyons.

Later that evening, in the vigil for Baroness Anna Eisenkopf, Their Majesties called Baroness Rynea Ingen of Stormsport to attend Them.  Speaking of her long dedication and tireless efforts as Mistress of the Lists, They felt moved to issue a writ for her to sit vigil and contemplate induction to the most noble Order of the Pelican.  Furthermore, owing to Their Majesties’ imminent retirement, They advised her that Their Heirs and she would need to confer upon a time when she would be elevated to the peerage.

On Tuesday, August 7, Anno Societatis 52, upon the conclusion of the Rapier Field Battle, Their Majesties called forth Baron Eric Grenier de Labarre, known as Grendel.  Upon confirmation that it was his wish to proceed, They invited before Them the Order of Defense.  Their Majesties asked for those who would speak to his worthiness for this honor.  First to speak was Count Thomas Byron of Haverford  for the Order of Chivalry noting how Grendel had persevered and came back from injury to become a better fencer.  Next Mistress Alys Mackyntoich spoke for the Order of the Laurel of how he has the heart of a peer.  Then came words written by Mistress Rhiannon the Curious and read by Mistress Nataliia Anastasiia Evgenova Sviatoslavina vnuchka about how he always does the work needed without complaint and teaches to be patient and count to 30 before replying in difficult moments.  After this Countess Elena d’Artois le Tailleur speaking as a Royal Peer and Lady of the Rose told about his virtue of Franchise and how he smiles through adversity.  As a Jewel of Æthelmearc , Duchess Dorinda Courtenay stated his service was multifaceted as a guard, champion and leader.  Words from Master Christian de Launey were read by Baroness Katja Davidova Orlova Khazarina of how he has given freely of himself to any in need.  For herself, as Mrs. Grendel, Baroness Katja advised that he has been a peer in her eyes for many years.  Lastly Master Benedict Fergus atte Mede spoke of how he learned to be a better man because he learned to be more like Grendel.  Their Majesties, having received such good counsel, resolved to proceed.  They called for a collar to be place about his neck, a cloak to be draped upon his shoulder and a pie to be eaten later.  Then Their Majesties inducted him into the Order of Defense, named him a Peer of the Society by Letters Patent and accepted his oath.

That evening in the Æthelmearc Pennsic Court in the Great Hall, Their Majesties called forth Fox.  They spoke of the prowess of Their Youth Champion and seeing the good work done that brought Fox to this point, They recognized the dedication shown by inducting him into the Order of the Silver Alce.  The scroll was unattributed.

Their Majesties called for William of Arindale the Younger and bid he take up the toy chest.  Then Their Majesties, called the children present to come before Them and knowing the children had become wise to the process of chasing the chest, asked they please be gentle with Their son.  A countdown was given and the youth chased William out of the court.

Their Majesties announced that the following gentles were to now be known as citizens of the Kingdom of Æthelmearc : Robeke von Heidelberg, Matthew of Sable Maul now known as Reinhard Doebbeler, John of Sable Maul now called Skjoldr Skotandi,  and Jamie of Sable Maul.

Their Majesties called forth the Order of the Fleur d’Æthelmearc.  Once assembled, They advised there was a member of the populace who should be added to the Order.  They then called Lord Johannes Ramsey to attend Them.  For his skill in Ironwork, They granted him arms and made him a member of the Order of the Fleur d’Æthelmearc .  The scroll was created by THL Mary Elizabeth Clausen.

Their Majesties then called for Baron Edward Harbinger and Lord Snorri skyti Bjarnarson to attend Them.  Their Majesties spoke of the level of skill required to attain the rank of Master Bowman and advised that both had acquired such a prowess and wished to congratulate them within the court.

Their Majesties invited Mistress Jacquetta de Mehun to Their court.  For her long term service at both local and Kingdom levels, They created her a Baroness of the Æthelmearc court.  The scroll made by the hand of Lady Felice de Thornton.

Their Majesties invited before Them Mistress Sarah of the Erie Sea.  They thanked her for her willingness to travel to Their Kingdom to support Combat Archery throughout the western half of Æthelmearc.  They advised that such service had not gone unnoticed and while she was not a citizen of our Kingdom, They nevertheless felt her service here deserved acknowledgement, thus They inducted her into the Order of the Keystone with a scroll created by Lady Felice de Thornton.

Their Majesties called forth Lady Sigrid Schreiber.  For her generous sharing of her tremendous talent in creating beautiful portraits, often for those she does not personally know, Her Majesty was moved to add her to the Queens Order of Excellence. [Editor’s note: this is the Æthelmearc Award of Excellence]

Their Majesties asked Beatrix Ghijs to attend Them.  For her help in the kitchens, with child minding and her kindness to others at events and practices, They Awarded her Arms and made her a Lady of the court.  The scroll was by Bronwyn of BMDL.

Their Majesties summoned Gwyn de Brymore.  Having heard of his assistance waterbearing at every battle at Pennsic and willingness to look after anyone in need, They were moved to induct him into the Order of the Keystone and confer upon him an Award of Arms, thus making him a Lord of the court.  The scroll was a work by Lord Leo Dietrich.

Their Majesties then called forth Baron Friderich Swartzwalder.  For his work as Kingdom Combat Archer Marshal, They inducted him into the Order of the Keystone.   The scroll was by the hand of THLady Eleanor Godwin.

Their Majesties called forth Lady Alita of Hartstone.  For her prowess on the fencing field and her active work within Silva Vulcani, Their Majesties inducted her into the Order of the Golden Alce.  The scroll was created by THLady Zofia Kowalewska.

Their Majesties called before Them Lord Olafr the Mercenary.  Knowing him to be a dedicated member of Borderwatch always ready with mace and sword, They saw fit to induct him into the Order of the Golden Alce.  The scroll was unattributed.

Next Their Majesties summoned Lord Hrungnir Hjaldarbjorn.  For his tooled leather skills, They inducted him into the Order of the Sycamore.  The scroll was limned by Mistress Maria Christina de Cordoba and calligraphed by Lady Isabella Montoya.

Their Majesties called forth Lady Vera Ivanova Tostikova.  For her service and leadership in the Archery community, They inducted her into the Order of the Keystone.  The scroll was a work by THLady Zofia Kowalewska.

Their Majesties called for Lord Takeda Jiro Masahige, known as Doga, to attend Them.  As he is a dedicated fighter who fought for the honor of our kingdom twice at the Gulf Wars, They saw fit to induct him into the Order of the Golden Alce.  The scroll was a work by the hand of Lord Sasson della Sancta Victoria.

Their Majesties then called forth Lord Grimbald Deth and Lady Angel Deth.  For his teaching of new fighters and her leading the water bearers of Sable Maul, Their Majesties made each a member of the Order of the Keystone.  The scrolls were works on copper plate by Her Highness Juliana, Princess of Æthelmearc.

And because we could always use just a bit more death, Their Majesties called forth Lord Justin Deth.  For his leadership on the battlefield and work teaching new fighters, They inducted him into the Order of the Keystone.  The scroll was created by Lady Lyse Gunther.

Their Majesties then called Lady Ceirech na Hinnsi before Them.  Moved by her gleeful ballista fire with Borderwatch Artillery and her service to the community as a Siege Marshal, They inducted her into the Order of the Golden Alce.  The scroll was created by Baron Caleb Reynolds.

Their Majesties then called for Lord Wilhelm Isenhart to attend Them.  For his excellence in fencing using period techniques, They inducted him into the Order of the Golden Alce.  The scroll was created by Sala Chapman.

Their Majesties warily asked Lady Maggie Rue to come forward but remain at a small distance.  Having noted her extensive knowledge of period poisons and her being a founding member of the Assassin’s Guild, They were moved to induct her to the Order of the Sycamore and bid her to look upon Them kindly.  The scroll was a work by THLady Vivienne of Yardley.

Their Majesties called forth Viscountess Lucilla Theresa de Courtenay.  For her work as Mistress of the Lists, creating and providing garb to newcomers and her volunteer work at the Great Pennsic War, They inducted her into the Order of the Keystone.  The scroll was created by the hand of Katyusha Yanakova.

Their Majesties called forth the Order of the Fleur d’Æthelmearc and bade them to take comfort as They had several pieces of business They wished the order present for.

Their Majesties then invited before Them Master Annanias Fenne and inducted him into the Order of the Fleur d’Æthelmearc for his skill with metal and stone in the making of jewelry.  The scroll was by limned Lady Felice de Thornton and calligraphed by Lady Ashling Na Ngleannta’n.

Next Their Majesties called forth Baron Tovaldr Torgarson.  For his research into all things Viking and teaching thereof, They inducted him into the Order of the Fleur d’Æthelmearc .  The scroll was created by Master Ragnarr Ivarson.

Their Majesties called Lady Brigette De Sainte Mere-Eglise to attend Them as well.  For her accomplishments with Hammered Dulcimer, They were moved to Grant her Arms and induct her to the Order of the Fleur d’Æthelmearc.  The scroll was a work by THLady Mairghread Stiebhard inghean ui Choinne.

Their Majesties also called for Lord Enzo di Pazzi.  For his excellence in Armoring, They were minded to Grant him Arms and inducted him to the Order of the Fleur d’Æthelmearc. A promissory note was given & forthcoming scroll will be by Mistress Ysabeau Tiercelin.

And lastly They called before them Lady Lucetta di Cosimo.  For her research into the afterlife of the body and the reanimation of corpses, Their Majesties inducted her into the Order of the Fleur d’Æthelmearc and Granted her Arms.  The scroll was created by Lady Shirin of Susa.

Their Majesties then released Their Order of the Fleur d’Æthelmearc to greet their newest members.

Their Majesties then called for Lord Kumagaya Kentarou Masamoto.  Their Majesties advised that the ability of a community to grow and prosper rests upon the shoulders of those who take on the tasks of fostering the art and because of this, They asked the Order of the White Horn to attend Them.  For his many years of extreme dedication to the Thrown Weapons community of the Kingdom, They conferred upon him a Grant of Arms and inducted him into the Order of the White Horn.  Scroll forthcoming.

Their Majesties bid the Order to remain while They called forth Lord Ian Campbell of Glenmore.  For his many years of service to the Thrown Weapons community and his skill at the range, Their Majesties inducted him to the Order of the White Horn and granted him arms.  Scroll forthcoming.

Then Their Majesties advised that to Their sorrow, They are making the following member of the Order of the White Horn in memorium but that it was the will of Their Majesties and with consent of the Order that Lord Peter Kotok be inducted as the fault in delay of this recognition was not his.  Therefore, Their Majesties stated that the word of his deeds should not go unrecognized and Granted Arms unto him as a member of the Order of the White Horn for his long years of valorous service to the Thrown Weapons community.  Furthermore, They requested that the scroll be carried forth to the hands of his lady so that all in the kingdom may mourn the passing of the Honorable Lord Peter Kotok and remember him fondly.  The scroll was unattributed.

Their Majesties asked Lady Lasairfhiona Inghean Aindraisa and Baroness Oddkatla Jonsdottir to attend Them.  His Majesty apologized to Lady Lasairfhiona for the catastrophic failure of his gift to her for the Æthelmearc Artisan’s Exchange and explained that the casting broke in twain in cooling but that He wanted to publically thank her for her patience and promised that He would complete her gift once He returned from the pilgrimage He was bound to embark upon at the conclusion of the War.  Next He advised Baroness Oddkatla to please kneel before Her Majesty and Himself as They had business with her regarding her work with the Artisan’s Exchange among other things.

Their Majesties then called the Order of the Millrind to attend Them.  They spoke movingly of the work and progress They had seen in Their subject Baroness Oddkatla.  For her cooking throughout the Kingdom, her work in bringing the Artisan’s Exchange to Æthelmearc for the enrichment of Their populace and for the works great and small she has done behind the scenes, They inducted her into the Order of the Millrind.  They also conveyed to her that although the scroll had been completed, the work was unfortunately burnt beyond retrieval before it could be delivered but promised a new work was being created in its stead.  Her Excellency remarked that as a cook she could well understand the dangers a fire placed upon all manner of things and was genuinely moved for the scribe’s loss.

Their Majesties asked the Order of the Millrind to please remain with Them and called forth Lady Adeliz Argenti.  They noted that as she is often carrying means for the Autocrat and staff of Pennsic to reach her, it was fitting for her to be doing so at present, but would she please ensure They would be uninterrupted for the moment.  They spoke of how her contributions for the Disablity Assistance Carts at Pennsic had been of great help to many and how she spends so much of her time at DART that she is almost never seen at War anywhere else.  For this work in helping those in greatest need of assistance, They were moved to induct her into the Order of the Millrind and Grant her Arms.  The scroll was an annotated work by Freiherrin Helena Mützhasen.

Next Their Majesties called forth the Honorable Lord Madoc Arundel.  For his many years of service especially within the Heraldic community, They inducted him into the Order of the Millrind.  The scroll was a piece written in the style of Master Leonardo di Vinci’s journals by Lady Amalie Reinhardt.  His Majesty advised he had found from this work that He had a newly discovered skill, the ability to calligraph backwards and Her Majesty acknowledged it was a skill She was pleased His Majesty could employ for both of Them.

Their Majesties then gave leave for the Order of the Millrind to greet their newest members.

Their Majesties called forth The Honorable Lady Astrid Vigaskegg and William the Fox.  His Majesty advised that for many within the Society, we consider each other family but there are those who exemplify this beyond words.  With permission, His Majesty relayed the tale of how Lord Sasson came to His Majesty to request a boon from Their Majesties.  Lord Sasson explained that as a child he was a ward of the state and had no family to call his own.  He spoke of how THLady Astridr took him into her home and hearth and made her family his.  When he struggled with homelessness, she gave shelter to him many years ago and it is because of her he is still with us.  Recently, while he was once again struggling with homelessness William the Fox did the same for him again.  He asked is there some way Their Majesties can make manifest the love he has for these two people?  Moved as He was to tears by this, His Majesty spoke with Her Majesty and together They felt that perhaps there was.  And so on this day do They confer upon THLady Astridr Vigaskegg an Augmentation of Arms, a demi escarbuncle in chief, that she might forever been known as being the best of what it means to be of Æthelmearc.  Further did They Award Arms to William the Fox and advise him to speak with Their Heralds so that he might bear arms with the demi escarbuncle in chief that all might know that we loudly and proudly proclaim him to be Ours, for his kindness and nobleness are what the Society strives to be.

Their Majesties invited before Them the most noble Order of the Pelican.   They then called forth Baroness Constance Glyn Dwr.  They stated that They wished to recognize her for her many years of service as the Kingdom Chiurgeon but as Their time upon the thrones was growing very limited They advised that she should speak with Their Heirs as to the date she wished to sit vigil for contemplation of becoming a member of the Order of the Pelican.

Their Majesties bid the Order to remain and called forth Baroness Anna Eisenkopf.   Their Majesties called for those who would speak for her worthiness.  Viscount Bear the Wallsbane carried words from Mistress Aleea Baga as a member of the Order of the Laurel.  She stated Anna has always been encouraging of others with open invitation to try new skills.  For the Order of the Rose, Duchess Rowan de la Garnison spoke the words of Duchess Meirwen uerch Owein.  She stated that as Princess of the Principality of Æthelmearc, she asked Anna to be on her princess’s guard to represent the Thrown Weapons form.  She advised Anna was no nonsense, hardworking and fearless.  She knows that Anna tells you when you are going astray and stated “I became a better Princess because of her willingness to speak truth to power and later a better Queen.”  As a Royal Peer, Duke Malcolm Duncan MacEoghainn spoke of how being a sovereign is the greatest duty one can take upon themselves.  He advised it is very hard to stay true to the dream as Crown and Anna stood with him through all his reigns ever reminding him that he was mortal.  She was his touchstone.   For the Order of the Chivalry, Count Isenwulf Thorolfssone spoke of her courage to stand up for what she holds dear no matter the rank or station of those who she needed to address and that she is fierce.  Sir Bear the Wallsbane spoke for her as a Jewel of Æthelmearc.  He advised she is his peer for her courage and directness.  Master Annanias Fenne then spoke as a Master of Defense.  He stated that for the 20 years he has signed in at a MOL table, Anna was almost always there and fixing every issue brought to her.  Lastly, Baroness Julietta spoke for the Order of the Pelican.  She said although she became friends with her, it was hard to speak to her because the red blur would go by at every event with things to do and help to offer.  She stated Anna’s service is not circumscribed by title, or goal, it is her very nature.  Their Majesties, so moved by these words, did grant her Arms by letter Patent.  They called for the ancestral medallion and placed this upon her neck.  They called for personal medallions to be also presented to her.  They called for a peer’s coat to be placed on her shoulders and then accepting her vow of service and named her a member of the Order of the Pelican.

On Thursday August 10, Anno Societatis LII at the Alllied Champions Battle upon the battlefield, Their Majesties called forth the Honorable Lord Tegrinus de Rhina.  They asked the members of the most noble Order of the Chivalry to attend Them and called for those who would speak for his worthiness to become a Knight.  For the Laurel, Mistress Katla Ulfhedinn advised that his chainmail adorns necks throughout the Known World and that he sees the heart of a person.  For the Pelican, Mistress Mahin Banu Tabrizi stated he gives of his heart.  He works to include new people and bring back joy to those who have lost their way.  For the Order of Defense, Master Clewin Kupferhelbelinc advised he will make the Order of the Chivalry better because when you stop answering, they stop calling and Tegrinus never stops answering.  As Royal Peers Count Andreas Morgan and Countess Kalista Morganova spoke of how his queen was his inspiration when he had no lady to inspire him that day and how he transports others so they may be at events and practices often over great distances.  For his former Knight Sir Finn Kirkpatrick, Count Jehan de la Marche and Count Thorbrandr spoke of how he was to be the 6th Knight of his lineage which spans 3 Kingdoms and he will be the representative of that lineage to the 4th Kingdom.  For the Chivalry, Sir Thorgrim Skullsplitter advised when he speaks for someone he looks for the knightly virtue of the person that stands above the others.  In this man, he finds no one virtue does because he embodies all the knightly virtues together.  Having heard these words, Their Majesties called for spurs to be fixed to his boots as the symbol of a knight.  They called for a knight’s white belt to be wrapped about his waist.   They called for a cloak to mark his station to be lain across his shoulders.  Finally, They called for the ancestral chain of Æthelmearc.  Sir Beatrix Kreiger recited the line of the Knights of Æthelmearc, the chain was laid upon the sword of state and Tegrinus swore fealty to the Crown of Æthelmearc.  The chain was placed round his neck and he was dubbed Knight by letters Patent.  His Majesty bid Sir Tegrinus to rise and delivered the buffet.  Scroll forthcoming.

On Friday August 11, Anno Societatis LII upon the Battlefield, Their Majesties called forth the Company of the Black Talon, House Iron Lance and the Meduseld MercanariesTo each house, Their Majesties awarded a Golden Alce.  For the Black Company it was given for the hard work they did in assisting AEthemearc in the Woods Battle and Bridge Battles.  For House Iron Lance, for their vigor and enthusiasm in the Woods Battle.  For the Meduseld Mercanaries, it was granted for their dedication to and assistance of the Kingdom in the Woods Battle.  Their Majesties thanked all and presented a medallion to each house that they might be known for their willingness to face overwhelming odds at the behest of the Kingdom of Æthelmearc.

Their Majesties then called forth The Honorable Lord Ulrich von Schwartzburg.  They asked the Order of the Chivalry to attend Them.  Seeing this man worthy of elevation, They asked for those who would speak on his behalf.  First to speak was Master Annanias Fenne for the Order of Defense.  He spoke of the fire and steel that Ulrich was and how fire shapes steel to be tempered and of use.  Next Master Skalla-Valgardr Gunnarsson, for the Order of the Pelican, stated he has known this man for a dozen years and he is a most honorable fighter to stand before or against.  He does not strike in anger and does quiet unassuming service but the job is always done well.  For the Laurel, Her Royal Highness, Princess Juliana spoke of how he started out making his own armor and now makes clothing for his family.  She spoke of how he crafts people as well, taking and shepherding them along.  As Royal Peers, Count Jehan de la Marche and His Royal Highness, Prince Gareth spoke.  Count Jehan advised that a King must earn loyalty from his followers but a Knight must bring those followers to the King and lead them.  Ulrich already has those eager to follow him to the call of the King.  His Highness Gareth spoke of how as his squire Ulrich always kept his oath.  He stated that the man embodies the virtue of Largess, giving of himself and gifting armor to others so they may take the field.  For the Chivalry, Sir Alonzio of the Peacemakers spoke of his consistent prowess.  He spoke of his Humility and working to put others on the field noting how even at this War he was repairing armor for others so they would not be absent from the field.  Their Majesties accepted these words and having resolved that such accomplishment would be recognized called for spurs to be affixed to his heel and a belt to mark his station be placed by his lady about his waist.  They then called for the ancestral chain of the Knighthood of Æthelmearc to be brought forward.  Sir Tegrinus de Rhina presented the chain and read forth the lineage of the Knights of Æthelmearc.  They called for his lineage’s chain of fealty to also be brought forward and both were placed upon the sword of state.  His Majesty accepted Ulrich’s oath of fealty as Knight and His Majesty, along with His Highness, dubbed Sir Ulrich von Swartzburg, Knight of the Society.     He bid Sir Ulrich to rise and receive the buffet.  Scroll forthcoming.

Later that afternoon upon the fencing field at the Novice Tourney, Their Majesties thanked the fencers for their dedication to the Kingdom throughout the war.  They called for Lord Simon Caminante to present himself before Them.  For his active support of cut and thrust and his work on the Æthelmearc rapier website, They inducted him into the Order of the Keystone.  The scroll was unattributed.

Next Their Majesties called Lady Alianora Bronhulle to attend Them.  Advising her that They wished to not block her entry into the Novice Tourney, They held this piece of business until now so that she would be able to compete.  They then inducted her into the Order of the Golden Alce for her prowess and determination on the Rapier field.  The scroll was to be held for her until the conclusion of the Novice Tourney.

As the final piece of business of the court conducted in the Æthelmearc hospitality tent, Their Majesties let it be known that Lord Tassin Treseol had become a citizen of the Kingdom of Æthelmearc and welcome him to his new home.

Their Majesties court was thus concluded.
