Here continues the Record of the Reign of Gareth and Juliana, King and Queen of Sylvan Æthelmearc at the Festival of the Passing of the Ice Dragon, April 14, AS 52, in Their Barony of the Rhydderich Hael; as recorded by Lord Arias Beltran del Valle, Jewel of Æthelmearc Herald, with the support of THL Sophie Davenport, Silver Buccle Herald, Baroness Ekaterina Volkova, Ice Dragon Pursuivant, Baron Liam mac an Tsaoir, Sycamore Herald, and Lady Ragna Hakonardottir.

In the morning:

Their Majesties Gareth and Juliana in turn called before them Mistress Mahin Banu Tabrizi, THL Elska a Fjarfelli, and THL Gytha Oggsdottir, asking if each was prepared to sit vigil to contemplate elevation to become one of Their Peers. Each answering in the affirmative, they were then sent to the place that had been prepared for them.

Their Majesties then called for Their Most Noble Order of the Pelican to attend Them. Having confirmed their number was fewer than appropriate, They then invited Countess Margerite Eisenwald to appear before Them. Her Excellency confirmed her desire to be counted among the Order. Their Majesties then heard words from those who would support her elevation. They heard words from Count Robin Wallace as a Royal Peer, Comtesse Isabeau de l’Isle as a member of the Order of the Rose, Her Grace Sir Morgen of Rye as a member of the Chivalry, Mistress Dorinda Courtenay as a Laurel, Lady Elisabetta de Venetia as a Jewel of Æthelmearc, Mistress Illadore de Bedegrayne as a Master of Defense, and Mistress Mahin banu Tabrizi amongst the Order of the Pelican.
Having heard those words, Their Majesties then invested Her Excellency with symbols of her newfound station, and created her one of the Most Noble Order of the Pelican.

Before Their business with Their Most Noble Order of the Pelican was concluded, Their Majesties Gareth and Juliana summoned Her Ladyship Ursula of Rouen to appear before them. Ursula’s labors on behalf of the kingdom in many roles had reached Their ears, including time spent serving as Authorization Clerk, autocrat, and more. Indeed, word of her works had spread wide through the Kingdom, and had earned the attention of others, as well. Their Majesties then issued unto her a Writ to sit vigil and contemplate elevation to that august Order.

There being no immediate business before Their Majesties, Their court was suspended until later in the day.

In the afternoon, amongst the heavy lists:

Their Majesties called to their presence Vassilis Monevassios. Word had reached Them of his prowess on the field, and his frequent presence at events in some of Their easternmost lands. In recognition of his efforts did they add him to Their Order of the Golden Alce.

Their Majesties then summoned THLord Guillaume le Noir to attend them. His Majesty bade His Lordship rise and asked the populace to note the craftsmanship and accuracy with which his armor was created in the style of heavy fighters from distant France. They deemed his work in portraying that image skilled indeed, and so did name him to Their Order of the Golden Stirrup.

Their Majesties thanked the fighters for their attention, and bid them continue to practice their skills. So was Their Court was once again suspended

During Their evening Court:

Their Majesties first bore to the populace sad news of the passing of His Excellency Master Leonard the Younger, the second Baron of the Debatable Lands. This news had reached Their ears that day, and so did they ask for a moment of silence in his memory.

Their Majesties then awarded Simon a Fjarfelli a Silver Buccle for his service to Their Kingdom, his skill in the arts, and for displaying a maturity beyond one of his few years.

His Excellency Baron Grimbald Deth was then called before Their Majesties. While Grimbald had provided many services for Their Majesties, They asked him to provide yet another. He was passed the toy chest for the children present amongst the populace, who were invited before Their Majesties as well. His Excellency was then sent, with an appropriate head start, to hide the chest from the children, who were then sent on their customary quest to find those riches.

Their Majesties then called for those amongst the populace attending their first event in the Society to attend Them. Throughout Their reign, Their Majesties’ custom had been to offer a drinking vessel to those new members, but so many had attended they had run out of cups to pass along. So did They share a token with those new to the Society with the hope that they would return to other events in the future.

Casey Redmane was next called to Their Majesties’ presence. She had become known to Them through her tireless service and her study of the arts and sciences. For these reasons among others did They see fit to elevate her to the nobility, and Award her Arms.

Their Majesties summoned Otilia von Passad of Blackwater before Them. Otilia’s history of assisting and autocrating events had become known to them, as had her service as her Shire’s A&S officer. So did they Award her Arms for that devoted work.

Lady Lasairfhiona ingen Aindrias was called before Their Majesties from her work calculating scores for the A&S competitions held that day. When not assisting in efforts like these, her work in kitchens around the kingdom, and entries into other A&S competitions were known far and wide. Rhys Penbras ap Dafydd was then called to Their Majesties. Rhys’s work spans many areas, from making and embroidering clothes by hand to helping in kitchens with period recipes, and making lovely scroll blanks. For this was Rhys added to the Order of the Sycamore in absentia.

Next did Their Majesties ask for the presence of Malleen Fenella Menzies, called Rivin. They had heard tales of her talent in the arts, and specifically had been able to see them thanks to her efforts in her Baronial newsletter. For her commitment in the practice of her art was she also named to join the Order of the Sycamore.

Their Majesties next summoned before them Her Excellency Baroness Aemilia Soteria. Her skill in thrown weapons had long been evident to Their Majesties, but as her talent and grown, so too has her renown. Therefore did they see fit to elevate her to Their Noble Order of the White Horn.

Their Majesties found her body of work to be excellent indeed, and so was she given an Æthelmearc Award of Excellence.

Mistress Mahin banu Tabrizi was then invited again to appear before Their Majesties, where she confirmed her desire to be added to Their Most Noble Order of the Laurel after sitting vigil. Their Majesties then asked for words from those Peers who would support her. Sir Thorgrim Skullsplitter and Mistress Katla Ulfheldinn spoke as heads of her household, Duchess Luna Æthelwulf of the East spoke as a member of the Order of the Rose, Sir Thorgrim brought words from Count Andreas Morgan of the Chivalry, Mistress Fredeburg von Katzenellenbogen spoke as a Master of Defense, Baroness Tabitha Dearval spoke as a Pelican, and Master Angus Pembridge’s words as a Laurel were conveyed by Her Majesty Caoilfhionn of the East.

Having heard those words, Mahin was the invested with the regalia of her new station, and then did Their Majesties accept her oath and add her to Their Noble Order of the Laurel.

Mistress Rhiannon spoke as one of the Laurel, His Excellency Sir Byron of Haverford spoke as a Royal Peer, Duke Timothy as a member of the Chivalry.

Having heard these good words, and in like fashion to Mistress Mahin, the signs and symbols of the Order were bestowed upon Elska, after which she did swear her oath. So was she created Mistress Elska a Fjarfelli of the Order of the Laurel.

Their Majesties then summoned His Excellency Baron Magnus de Lyons of the Rhydderich Hael. Her Majesty told him that They were well aware of the effort His Excellency had put into making the day a smooth one, and the adverse circumstances under which he had done so. From this did she draw great inspiration, and so awarded him a Golden Escarbuncle.

Their Majesties then rose to thank those responsible for the creation of Their wardrobe for the day: Her Royal Highness Siobhan, Meisterin Felicitas, Master Anias, Master Fergus, Freiherin Helena, Master John Michael Thorpe, and Lady Aesa. They also wished to recognize those scribes and artisans whose work was handed out in Their Courts this day.

Next did they call forth Lady Elisabetta de Venetia. As Their time on the thrones grew short, They had decided to add a name to the rolls of the Jewels of Æthelmearc. They thanked for serving Their ancestors and the kingdom well, and then invited Mistress Elisabeth Johanna von Flossenburg before them. They thanked her for her untiring efforts during Their reign, and in recognition, did name her the 44th Jewel of Æthelmearc.

Their Majesties then summoned before Them Their Silver Buccle Herald, Her Ladyship Sophie Davenport. Her Ladyship had been informed than Their Jewel Herald would be unable to attend the coronation of Their Heirs, and so begged Their leave to complete some business with him. Lord Arias Beltran del Valle was then called to Court, where he was released from his oaths to serve as Jewel of Æthelmearc Herald, returning his tabard to be held in safe-keeping until his successor was invested before taking his leave and joining the populace in Their Court. However, Their Majesties bid him return to Their Presence. They noted his service as Jewel Herald and his efforts around Their home Shire of Misty Highlands. They also mentioned others had seen and heard of his service, and so called forth Their Noble Order of the Millrind, and did add him to Their number.

Their Majesties then rose to thank the populace who joined them at Gulf Wars for their efforts, and bid them support Their Heirs as they prepare for the great Pennsic War in only a few months time.
