Their Majesties welcomed all to the gathering and hoped everyone would find fun and learning this day.

The Order of the Millrind was called into court.  It was noted that while it is unusual to call for a service order at a gathering of the martial arts, there was one in attendance, who spends all his time at Pennsic serving that Their Majesties feared there would be no other time to reward him for all the work he does to make the War happen.  THL Rouland of Willowbrooke was then called forth and inducted into the order for his long time service to the Technical Services Department of the Pennsic War.  Scroll by Baroness Ekaterina Volkova.

Assistant Herald:  Mistress Gytha Oggsdottir, Silent Herald.

Their Majesties were joined by Their Majesties Alric and Katherine of the Midrealm, Their Majesties Agrippa and Dawid of Caid, and Their Majesties Bela and Ana of the Outlands.

His Majesty thanked all who came and hoped that all had an enjoyable time partaking in the Field Battle.

Their Majesties called forth THL Madison Morai.  He was asked if he had a chance to sit vigil and contemplate if he would join the the Order of the Chivalry.  He said he did. The Order of the Chivalry was then called forth.

Before he could give his answer freely, Count Ruslan Novgorodcev asked that his squire’s baldric be returned. But before Their Majesties could proceed, they asked for witnesses who would vouch for His Lordship.  Mistress Mahin Banu Tabrizi, on behalf of the Order of the Laurel, spoke of his leather work, cordial making and the art he shows in the study of strategy and how he teaches that to any who would listen. The Order of the Pelican was represented by Master Robert O’Connor, who spoke of Madison’s character and deep dedication to service.  Count Gareth Kincaid spoke for the Royal Peers about how His Lordship leads and shapes people, both on and off the field and through that earns their respect and loyalty. Master Jussi Laplein, representing the Order of Chivalry, spoke of Madison’s unwavering loyalty to house, Lady, Army and Kingdom.

Having heard the praises from the Peerages, His Majesty asked for Madison’s decision.  Madison agreed to join the Order and take the regalia of Knight of the Society.  A belt of white was placed around his waist by Lady Stasha Sebastian.    He then knelt before Their Majesties and gave his oath of fealty. His Majesty then called for the Æthelmearc ancestral chain.  Sir Dominic Morland brought forth the chain and read the lineage of the Knights of the Kingdom.  His Majesty then presented the chain he was wearing, saying that soon the ancestral chain would need to be passed on and no knight should be without a chain.  A personal chain was also presented. His Majesty then said that the Order of the Chivalry is represented by spurs, as a knight was a horseman as well as a soldier.  Count Ruslan then spoke that there was a set of spurs that had been worn by one that was taken before he could fully become a Knight. Mistress Rynea von Ingen came forth and present Madison with the spurs that had belonged to her late husband Baron Rodrigo de la Vega.  These spurs were then placed on Madison’s feet. A caftan was then presented so that he could display his rank. His Majesty then dubbed him thrice times a Knight and delivered the last blow that would be received unanswered. The court was then presented Sir Madison Morai.  Promissory scroll by Mistress Antoinette de la Croix.

Noting that there was still business with the Order of the Chivalry, Their Majesties then called for THL Hagar the Blushing to present himself.  It was noted that His Lordship had also been sent on vigil to contemplate joining the Order.  However, before he could give his answer, Duke Edward the Sinister requested the Squire’s belt that Hagar wore to be returned to him.

Their Majesties then asked for testimony on his worthiness to be made a member of the Peerage.  Countess Juliana Delamare, on behalf of the Laurels, spoke of his skill in Viking wire weaving and horn carving.  The Order of the Pelicans was represented by Duke Rurik Longsword, who said that when not on the field, Hagar can always be found lifting heavy things, carrying totes, and is just one who never stops working.  Duchess Mora de Buchanan, on behalf of the Ladies of the Rose, testified to the dedication to serving many reigns both in Caid and in Æthelmearc. Master Quinn Kerr, representing the Order of Defense, talked of how Hagar helped guide a group of young SCAdians to be the best they could be.  THL Astridr vigaskegg spoke on behalf of the Populace and how the subjects of Æthelmearc in the far reaches of Region One would not be where they were today if it were not for Hagar’s guidance, leadership and mentoring. Sir Hrothgeirr Ivarsson, HRM Alric of the Mists and Duke Edward the Sinister all spoke as members of the Order of Chivalry and attested to his prowess and calm temperament on the field of battle.

Satisfied with what they heard, Their Majesties asked Hagar what his decision was.  Hagar answered that he would join the order and become a Knight of the Society.  When asked if there was a belt for him, Duke Edward the Sinister presented the belt he wore to his former Squire.  A belt made by his squire brother was also placed about his waist. His Majesty Alric also presented a belt made by his hand to Hagar to wear.  Then, kneeling before Their Majesties, Hagar swore his oath of fealty.

His Majesty spoke of the symbol of a Knight’s oath is the chain he wears, so that he is always aware of the weight of his words and promises.  Sir Madison Morai brought forth the ancestral chain of Æthelmearc and read its lineage. Duke Edward also presented the household lineage chain.  A personal chain was also given to him.

So that he would not suffer from the cold days of Pennsic, a coat marking his station was placed about his shoulders.  His Majesty then dubbed him thrice, naming him a Knight and delivered his last unanswered blow. Sir Hagar the Blushing was then presented to the court.  Scroll by Flavia Beatrice Carmigniani.
