An account of the court of Sven and Siobhan, King and Queen of Æthelmearc, held at Harvest Raids and the Coronation of Anna Leigh on the 29th day of September in the 53rd year of the Society in the Shire of Heronter. Reported by Baroness Ekaterina Volkova, Jewel of Æthelmearc Herald, assisted by THL Sophie Davenport, Silver Buccle Herald and Mistress Gytha Oggsdottir, Silent Herald.

Their Majesties thanked everyone for coming.

Meister Madoc Arundel asked for time to address the populace. He spoke of how, those brewers who participated in his challenge submitted points to earn stars for their guild favors and asked those that had submitted their points to see him.

His Majesty then spoke of the work the Brewers Guild did in helping him fulfill his dream of an open bar at Pennsic. Ranka Alfrun of the Debatable Lands was Awarded Arms in absentia for her long volunteer service time at troll, on the archery range and as deputy exchequer. Scroll is forthcoming.

Their Majesties then inducted Lord Theowyndwood Keyote into the Order of the Golden Alce for his skill on the combat field. Scroll by Baron Caleb Reynolds. The Order of the Golden Alce was then asked to stand so the populace might see if there was someone deserving to be in the Order but was not and then encouraged to write that person in for the award.

Mistress Arianna of Wynthrope, Kingdom Youth Marshal then announced that the time of her term was over and that Their Majesties and Her Highness had accepted His Lordship Methius Weasel as her replacement.

Maighstir Liam Mac an Tsaoir, then announced that under the request of Their Majesties, he coordinated the volunteers for this past Pennsic War and was pleased to report that Æthelmearc reported over 1956 hours of volunteer service at the War.

Lord Eustasious di Messina was named a member of the Order of the Keystone in absentia for all the behind the scenes work he does to make so many things happen. Scroll by THL Amalie Reinhart.

Their Majesties then asked for the presence of Meisterin Felicity Flußmüllnerin, Duchess Líadain ní Dheirdre Chaomhánaigh, Baroness Helena Mützhasenin, Sir Beatrix Krieger, Lady Isabetta Orsini, THL Hrόlfr á Fjárfelli, THL Elska á Fjárfelli, and Baroness Ekaterina Volkova. Their Majesties said that it was through the work of these good gentles that they were able to be so successful in Their Reign. For this they were awarded Sigils of Æthelmearc and gifted with hand made cups made by the hand of Baroness Sybilla Detwyller.

Their Majesties then called for Mistress Laurencia de Carlisle. It was noted that while she is known for her artistic skills, she also quietly serves throughout the realm as Arts and Sciences judge and mentor, retaining and making sure the populace is clothed. For this she was named into the Order of the Keystone. Scroll by Baroness Ekaterina Volkova. It was then announced that Their Majesties had further words with Duchess Líadain ní Dheirdre Chaomhánaigh. Her Majesty spoke of how they had known each other for more years than either one probably wanted to admit. How in all that time Her Grace served as inspiration, guide, mentor to not only Their Majesties, but the Kingdom as a whole. For this she was named the 45th Jewel of Æthelmearc. His Majesty then asked all present to join him in singing Happy Birthday to Her Majesty. Once the song was over, Her Majesty asked His Majesty to sing it in the tradition of His Homeland.

Their Majesties then called forth the Order of the Laurel and THL Luceta di Cosimo.  His Majesty confirmed that they did issue a Writ to Her Ladyship to appear on this day to sit vigil.  The Order indicated that a place had been arranged for the good Lady to sit and hear words.  Their Majesties then bade the Order to take her and see that she received good counsel through the day.

Her Highness Anna Leigh then came forth and after wishing Her Majesty a Happy Birthday, she reminded Their Majesties that on a rainy day in May, Her Highness’ birthday, His Highness Titus did win the tournament and They were named Heirs. She said that while His Highness has left this world, She would take Her rightful place, as He would have wished, to rule the Sylvan Lands. Representatives from the Seneschal, Earl Marshal, Mistress of the Lists and Herald’s offices all attested that they did witness His Highness Titus win the tournament and crowned Heir and that He then placed the Princess’ coronet on Her Highness.

Their Majesties did agree that it was time to seek Their retirement but did need a few moments of time to finish Their business. Her Highness agreed and departed.

Their Majesties then called for the Retinue and Queen’s Guard. They thanked those who stood with them, followed them across the fields of war, guarded and made them safe. The Retinue and Guards were released from their duties and departed.

THL Sophie Davenport, Silver Buccle Herald, then came forth and released Baroness Ekaterina Volkova from her obligations as Jewel Herald. Her Excellency returned the regalia of the office and retired from the court.

Their Majesties again thanked the Kingdom of Æthelmearc for the opportunity to serve as King and Queen.

Her Highness, Anna Leigh, then came forth to claim the throne of the Sylvan Lands.

His Majesty then removed the Crown from Her Majesty’s head and thanked Her with all His heart for serving as His Queen and inspiration. His Majesty then took the Crown from His head and handed it to Her Highness.

Her Highness spoke to the populace and said that there was only one person who She ever wanted to place the Crown upon Her head, and though He was not present in body, His spirit was with Her and with Her own hands placed the Crown of Æthelmearc upon Her head.

The Lineage of the Royalty of Æthelmearc was read and Anna Leigh was then proclaimed to be the 43rd Queen of Æthelmearc.

Sven and Siobhan were released to their retirement.

There being no further business, the Court of Sven and Siobhan was closed.


The account of Her Majesty of Æthelmearc, Queen Anna Leigh, held at Her Coronation at Harvest Raids in the Shire of Heronter, on the 29th day of September, Anno Societatis 53, as recorded by THL Sophie Davenport, Silver Buccle Herald, with the assistance of Mistress Gytha Oggsdottir, Silent Herald.

Her Majesty, with the Sword of State, stepped forward to hear the Oath of Service from the Kingdom Officers present.

She then heard the Oaths of Service and Fealty from the Landed Baronage present.

Next, She heard the Oaths of the Royal Peers, the Order of Chivalry, the Order of the Laurel, the Order of the Pelican, and the Masters of Defense. The Order of the White Scarf, with the Order of the Rose and Former Consorts, then did offer their Oath and presented Her Majesty with a White Scarf.

Duke Sven and Duchess Siobhan were called forth and Her Majesty reaffirmed their status, presenting Duke Sven with a scroll commemorating the event. The scroll was calligraphed and illuminated by THL Abigail Kelhoge, with wording by Baroness Ekaterina Volkova and translation by THL Phelippe Ulfdottir.

Court was then suspended, with the announcement that Her Majesty would be Sitting in State for a period during the afternoon.

When the court of Queen Anna Leigh resumed in the evening, Her Retainers and the Captain of Her Guard were called forth and they offered their oaths of service.
Next, the Silver Buccle Herald stepped forward to invest Maestro Orlando di Bene del Vinta as the Jewel Herald, the Voice of Her Majesty. He then knelt offering his Oath of Service, and took his place in Her Majesty’s court.

The Silver Buccle Herald begged to conduct one further item of business. It is the duty of the Kingdom Herald to name the Deputies of the College of Arms and it was noticed that one was missing. Thus it was announced that the Silent Herald Deputy is now to be known as the Silver Sycamore Herald.

The Silver Buccle Herald then stepped aside to allow the Jewel Herald to continue to conduct Her Majesty’s court.


Her Majesty called forward all individuals for whom this was their first event and bid them welcome and presented each of them with a cup from which they could share drink and camaraderie with new friends.

THL Metheus Weasel was then called before the throne whereupon he gave his oath of services as the new Kingdom Youth Combat Marshal.

He then spoke of the kingdom Youth Heavy Weapons Champion tournaments held this day. Fritz and Simon Fjarfell were then called forward and thanked by Her Majesty for their service as youth champions, after which she relieved them of their duties and received back their regalia of station. Carter of Thescore and Frytz Fluβmüllner were then called before the Queen and were presented as the winners of today’s tournaments. Frytz was named as Division 1 Champion in absentia, and Carter was named Division 2 Champion, who then gave his oath of service and was presented with the regalia of his station. The children of the kingdom were then called into court and welcomed, after which Her Majesty sent them off to select a gift of amusement from the kingdom toy chest.

The autocrats of the day’s event were then given leave to address the populace after which they were presented gift baskets by Her Majesty.

Next, participants of the day’s Arts and Sciences activities were invited forward and presented with tokens by the Queen, after which the winners of the competition were announced.

The combatants who entered the Kingdom Heavy Weapons Championship were then invited forward and were presented tokens by Her Majesty. THL Oliver Sutton, the Kingdom Heavy Weapons Champion, was then called before Her Majesty to speak of the tourney. Her Majesty thanked his Lordship for his service as champion and then relieved him of his post and divested him of his regalia. Her Grace, Duchess Siobhán inghean uí Liatháin next appeared before Her Majesty and was presented with a scroll commemorating her service to the kingdom as queen and extending the gratitude of the Crown and populace. Scroll by THL Rachel Dalicieux.

Her Majesty then sought words with THL Teresa Luisa Alvarez. Her Majesty spoke of the longstanding personal service to the Crown, and to Herself and Titus. Lady Gulsah al Zakiyya attended Her Majesty, who spoke of her skill in the scribal arts, her teaching, and her clothing, and for these efforts did induct Gulsah into the Order of the Sycamore. Scroll by Rachel Rouse deFlumeri.

Thomas Byron, Earl of Haverford then appeared before the throne. Her Majesty spoke of his skill with coining and his efforts as head of the Kingdom Moneyer’s Guild, and so did induct him into the Order of the Sycamore. Scroll by Lady Nichola Beese.

Her Majesty then had words with Lord Jasper Longshanks. She spoke of his service in creating wonderful tokens to be used as largess, and for that She did induct him into the Order of the Keystone. Scroll forthcoming.

Her Majesty called for Earl Gareth Kincaid. She spoke of his artistry and craftsmanship with steel and leather, and his willingness to share these talents with others. She noted that his skill was beyond the average craftsman, and so did call forward the Fleur d’Ӕthelmearc and asked that he take his place among those members of that esteemed order. Countess Margerite Eisenwald was then summoned before Her Majesty who spoke of Her gratitude for her support and her efforts in planning and leading the memorial vigil at Pennsic for Prince Titus. In recognition of Her appreciation, Her Majesty bestowed upon Countess Margerite the Ӕthelmearc Award of Excellence, and did present her with a small hand painted portrait in the likeness of Countess Margerite as a token of appreciation. The Order of the Pelican was then called to attend Her Majesty, who spoke of one who was missing from among their ranks. Duke Sigenoth the Blissful was then called before the throne and presented with a writ of summons to contemplate elevation to that order. Scroll by Kieran MacRae.

Her Majesty then called for the Order of the Laurel, and then summoned THL Luceta di Cosimo. Speaking in testimony of Luceta’s worthiness to be named as a peer of the realm, Mistress Hilderun Hugelmann spoke of Luceta’s generosity and her compassion. Thomas Byron Earl of Haverford spoke of Luceta’s determination, search for knowledge, and her curiosity. Countess Ariella of Thornbury spoke of Luceta’s ability to make learning fun and how her knowledge and teaching enriches the Society. Master Clewin Kupferhelbelinc addressed Luceta’s efforts and the striving that she has undertaken to obtain the knowledge that she has. Maister Brandubh O’Donghaile spoke of his admiration for the inspiration she shows and that she’s “got a lot of love.” Mistress Arianna of Wynthrope described Luceta as a scholar, an artisan, a teacher, and a craftswoman. Having been satisfied by this testimony, Her Majesty then asked for Luceta’s oath of service, after which she was regaled with tokens of her new station and named to the Order of the Laurel. Her Majesty then called for THL Bran Labhradha. She spoke of his passion and his efforts on the field today in the Kingdom Heavy Weapons Championship and named him Her Inspiration.

Her Majesty then thanked the scribes who contributed works of their art so that others might be recognized.

THL Torvald Torgarson then appeared before Her Majesty and presented a shield and a poem in honor of Prince Titus, which he then shared with the populace.
