Here continues the Record of the Second Reign of Gareth and Juliana, King and Queen of Sylvan Æthelmearc at The Great Pennsic War ; as recorded by THL Arias Beltran del Valle, Jewel of Æthelmearc Herald, with the assistance of Mistress Gytha Oggsdottir, Mistress Ekaterina Volkova, Mistress Gwendolyn the Graceful, Master Robert O’Connor, Master Fridrikr Tomasson, THL Zofia Kowalewska, Ice Dragon Pursuivant, Lord Snorri skyti Bjarnarson, Lord Pavel Dudoladov, Lord Robeke von Heidelberg, Lord Ronan O’Conall, Lady Nichola Beese, and Lord Tigernán MacFlainn UíFáeláin.

In the evening of August 2nd, at the Camp of House Three Swans:

The Court of Their Majesties opened at the Camp of House Three Swans. The household’s hospitality was known well by Their Majesties, as they had stepped up to assist at the Royalty Welcome Party this year at War. But further, for many years now, the House had served the populace in other fashions, from supporting events and fighters in Their Barony of Thescorre to lighting the torches illuminating the Causeway at Pennsic. For the long history of service provided did Their Majesties induct House Three Swans into Their Order of the Keystone. Scroll by Lady Sebastienne la Rousse.

On the morning of August 3rd, upon the fencing field:

Their Majesties called for the presence of Don Po Silvertop. Having been given a writ to consider elevation to Their Most Noble Order of Defense, Their Majesties asked Don Po if that were still his wish. Having confirmed such, Master Benedict Fergus atte Mede released Don Po from his oath to his Excellency. Then did Don Po offer his sword to Her Majesty, until such a time as She deemed him worthy to use it in Her defense. Don Po was then sent from Their presence to play the prize as he considered that honor.

Later that evening, upon the same field:

Their Majesties returned to the field once again where, having spent the day playing the prize and hearing counsel, Their Majesties then asked for counsel from the Peers of Their Kingdom as to his worthiness. His Excellency Stefan of the Endless Hills spoke as a member of the populace, Sir Murdoch Bayne spoke for himself and Count Andreas Morgan as knights, Mistress Illadore de Bedegrayne spoke as a Companion of the Laurel, and Mistress Gabrielle de Winter followed as a Pelican. Countess Caryll brought words from both herself and Countess Kalista Morgunova. Finally did Baron Fergus speak as a Master of Defense.

Having heard that testimony, Their Majesties deemed Don Po worthy indeed of inclusion into the Most Noble Order of Defense, and so was he invested with signs of his new station, including a sword hanger, a cloak, and three collars to represent his station, the ancestral collar of the kingdom, a lineage collar passed to him, and a personal collar for his use. Finally did Her Majesty return to Po the sword he had earlier surrendered to Her, and bid him use it in defense of the Sylvan lands. Then was he created Master Po, a companion of the Order of Defense. Scroll Calligraphy and Illumination by Alianora Bronhulle, words by Jehan le Blanc

On August 4th, in the court of Their Excellencies of the Debatable Lands, Brandubh and Hilderun:

Lady Fede di Fiore was called to appear before Their Majesties. Her work with fabrics had been made known to Their Majesties, but for more than her skill. Lady Fede had been known for the largesse she provides, helping to clothe Their Majesties, and sharing her knowledge of needlework and the making or garb with those who are interested. For this valued work was she added to the Order of the Keystone. Scroll by Lady Eilionora inghean an Bhaird.

Their Majesties summoned before them Lord Cassiano d’Ovunque. As his lady before him had been known for her work with clothing, Lord Cass was known to many for his skilled creation of brews, especially krupniks, to be enjoyed while making merry. Their will, therefore, was to credit him for this work, and so did They add him to Their Order of the Sycamore. Scroll by Baroness Ismay Ponde.

Baroness Kelda Jurgenstochter was summoned next to appear before Their Majesties. She had been asked to pick a time to sit vigil to contemplate inclusion into Their Most Noble Order of the Pelican. Having confirmed it was her desire to do so this day, Their Majesties called for that Order to bear her away to the place prepared for her to do so.

His Lordship Hrolf a Fjarfelli was called to appear. Their Majesties had also bid him to sit vigil to contemplate elevation, but this time to Their Most Noble Order of the Laurel. He confirmed his desire to do so as well, and so was that order invited to Their presence to bear him away to the place where he would sit in contemplation.

On August 5th, under the Battlefield Pavilion after the heavy field battles.

Their Majesties called for Lord Titus Marius Caninus to present himself before them. For eight years had Titus been a constant presence in the Sylvan Army, despite the great distances he crossed to do so. His service in the ranks had been both faithful and skilled, and so did They add him to Their Order of the Golden Alce. Scroll by Lady Simonetta d’Alfassi.

Lord Radulfr Gylfir was similarly ordered to present himself. His skill as a shieldman in the Sylvan Army was well-known to Their Majesties, who had seen his prowess growing over time. They were glad to see his talents used in defense of Their lands, and so did They had him, too, to Their Order of the Golden Alce. Scroll by the Scribes of Æthelmearc.

Their Majesties the summoned Lord Rauđbjorn Lodbrok to attend them. He too had served in the Sylvan Army for some time, and had become proficient with a range of weaponry to fit the situation demanded of him. Further, though, had he learned to fight with whichever arm was most needed at the time. His skill had grown so that Their Noble Order of the Gage deemed it worthy of recognition as well. So that Order was summoned to appear, and Their Majesties then added Raudbjorn to their number. Scroll by Baron Caleb Reynolds and Her Ladyship Shirin al-Sussiyya.

Their Majesties bid that Order stay in Their Presence for a moment longer, for they had recommended another to Their Majesties’ attention. Lord Vassilis Monevassios had grown in prowess quickly, and used that to faithfully defend Their Sylvan Lands. For that skill on the field, and devotion to the art of combat, did Their Majesties summon him forth and add him to Their Noble Order of the Gage as well. Scroll by Lady Gwen Cooke.

Later, under the Battlefield Pavilion after the fencing field battles:

Their Majesties called for Baron Robert Hawksworth to appear before Them. Baron Robert had long been known as a presence of light wherever he went, but his skill with the rapier had also grown significantly as well. Their Majesties found his work with that weapon to be of great skill and value, as did Their Noble Order of the White Scarf, who recommended to Them that Baron Robert be added to their number. So was that Order called to attend them, and bear his Excellency forth as a Companion of the White Scarf. Scroll was a white silk scarf with embroidery work by her Ladyship Phelippe Ulfsdotter, upon words provided by His Lordship Arias Beltran del Valle.

That night, in Æthelmearc Royal at the reception for the Kingdom 10-man team:

Their Majesties expressed Their disappointment in not being able to attend the 10-man tournament held earlier that evening, but had heard stories of the great honor brought to the Kingdom by efforts of the team of the field that day.

However, They felt that some members of the team were worthy of greater recognition for their prowess than they currently bore.

They first summoned THL Cid Hiyo to appear before them. Well aware had they been of his growing skill in battle for many years now. So did they determine that his Lordship’s title did not adequately express Their faith in his abilities. They then invited the members of Their Most Noble Order of the Chivalry in to Their Court, and did bid that Order to bear his Lordship forth to prepare to consider elevation to be counted amongst them.

Before that Order could depart, Their Majesties bid them remain, for another had long pursued the art of combat for many years, and had only continued to impress Them by his prowess in combat. So was His Lordship Arden Scot of Clan Scot summoned to Their presence, and similarly did They bid him to go with the Chivalry to prepare for elevation himself.

On August 6th, in the Great Hall:

Their Majesties invited the landed Barons and Baronesses of the Sylvan Kingdom to attend Them in Their Court.

First, His Lordship Cid Hiyo was called to appear before Their Majesties. Though he had been sent to vigil by Their Majesties only the day before, They offered him another dangerous quest to complete. Having accepted this mission, his Lordship was given the children’s toy box in preparation for a hasty departure from the Great Hall. Then did Their Majesties invite the children of the kingdom forward to join them in Court, and after a reminder of the rules of the game, did send Cid away to be pursued thereafter by the eager children of the kingdom.

Their Majesties then called before them Baroness Kelda Jurgenstochter. Having sat vigil earlier in the week, they confirmed that it was her desire to join Their Most Noble Order of the Pelican. They then invited the members of that Order present to join Them in Their Court.

Kelda Pelican

Their Majesties then asked for words to attest to Kelda’s worthiness to join that Order. Words from the Laurel came from Duchess Sedalia MacNare, borne by Duchess Elis O’Boirne. Duchess Rowan de la Garnison sent words as a member of the Order of the Chivalry, brone by Viscoutn Haakon Oaktail. Words from Duchess Meirwen Uerch Owein were borne by Her Majesty of Ansteorra Margaret Ny Connor as a Companion of the Rose. Viscount Edmund Dracatorr bore words from Duke Stefan Glaube and Duchess Branwen verch Lewis ap Thomas as a Royal Peer. Duchess Dorinda Courtenay spoke as a Master of Defense, and Viscount Edward Zifran of Gendy spoke from amongst the ranks of the Pelicans.

Having heard these testimonies, and finding them moving indeed, Their Majesties the invested Kelda with the trappings of her station, including a cloak, cap of maintenace, and medallion. That having been done, they created her as Mistress Kelda, companion of the Order of the Pelican. The scroll was a book created by a myriad of kingdom artisans as the Book of Kelda, with many pages blank to allow the story to continue.

Lord Alfonso de Santo Domingo was then called to attend Their Majesties. Scroll by Mistress Arianna of Wynthrope.

Their Majesties then spoke of the efforts of Lady Gesa von Wellenstein. Gesa had been known as a fierce advocate and supporter of the equestrian community in the kingdom, wherein she ran games and practices for her local group, and created champions’ sashes each reign. For her service to that portion of the Kingdom did Their Majesties add her to Their Order of the Keystone. Scroll by Mistress Antoinette de la Croix.

Their Majesties then spoke of Mistress Constance Waite. As a member of the Order of the Pelican, her service had long been known to the kingdom, but Their Majesties felt her gifts in the arts had not received due recognition, whether in making garb or cooking or brewing. For her contributions did They create her a member of Their Order of the Sycamore. Scroll by THL Shirin al-Sussiyya.

Lord Dyryke Hastings was next called before Their Majesties. Long has Dyryke labored to support the kingdom in many areas from retaining to assisting youth in their path in the martial arts. Their Majesties then called for Cerridwen de Skene, Baroness of Blackstone Mountain to appear. For this work did Their Majesties award her with the Order of the Keystone. Scroll by Lady Murdia Drusilla Vettia Portia.

Their Majesties then spoke of the value to the arts and sciences community in the Debatable Lands provided by Lady Zianna beguy Urdina de Zabaleta. Lady Zianna has been known for her service, but was also known to create Basque garb and hats, spending great time researching that field. For this work did They make her a member of Their Order of the Keystone. Scroll by Lord Owen Tegg.

Master Tofi Kerthjalfadsson was next invited into Their Majesties’ Court. Master Tofi had served the Kingdom as Exchequer faithfully and well, but his time in office was drawing to close, and he requested Their Majesties release him from that office and appoint a successor to the post. So did Their Majesties then call for the Noble Rhys Penbras ap Dafydd, and invest him as Exchequer of the Kingdom.

Rhys Exchequer

Before Master Tofi could retire from Their presence, Their Majesties bid him wait a moment. They noted with gratitude his service as Exchequer in the kingdom over the past 5 years, a position that requires much from those who take on the responsibility. They decided that simply acknowledging that service was not enough, and that he should bear some sign of his value to these Sylvan lands. So did their Majesties issue unto him an Augmentation of Arms. Scroll by Mistress Graidhne ni Ruaidh.

Mistress Mahin banu Tabrizi was next invited to join Their Majesties in Their Court. Mahin was currently serving Their Majesties as coordinator of the Royal Encampment, but had long labored in so many pursuits supporting the Kingdom and its populace that They deemed further recognition of her work was due. So did They issue to her an Award of Excellence. Scroll by His Lordship Sasson della Sancta Victoria.

Their Majesties the summoned Baroness Anastasie de Lamoure to appear in Their presence. Her Excellency had grown involved with the thrown weapons community for many years in the Kingdom, during which time her skill on the range has grown to be great indeed. Others had noticed that skill as well, and so did Their Majesties call for Their Noble Order of the White Horn to attend them, and bid that Order bear her with them as one of their number. Scroll by Her Ladyship Zofia Kowalewska.

Her Ladyship Shirin al-Sussiyya was next called to appear before Their Majesties. Her Ladyship has been serving the Kingdom in recent years as a co-Sylvan Signet, coordinating the work of organizing the scribes and illuminators of the Kingdom in creating the works of art issued as awards in each court. They had noticed her faithful work, and so did they call for Their Noble Order of the Millrind to attend them, and did add her to Their number. Scroll by Mistress Antoinette de la Croix.

Their Majesties bid that Order remain in Their presence a moment longer, for another’s service had also drawn Their attention. They called for Baron Friderich Swartzwalder to attend Them. His Excellency’s history of service is long and extensive, and his work with the combat archery community is one of many highlights for which they found him worthy of greater recognition. So did They create him a Companion of the Millrind as well, and bid the Order bear him with them as a member. Scroll by Her Excellency Amalie Reinhardt.

Her Ladyship Phelippe Ulfsdotter was next called before Their Majesties. Her Ladyship’s work in the arts and sciences is varied across many different disciplines, from illumination to carving to natural dyeing and the creation of works like the embroidered scarf awarded as a scroll earlier that War. Their Majesties found her gifts to be of great value and worthy of great praise. So did They summon to Them Their Order of the Fleur d’Æthelmearc, and create her a Companion of that Noble Order. Their Majesties then called for His Lordship Hrolfr a Fjarfelli. Having sat vigil in contemplation of elevation to the Order of the Laurel earlier that week, he confirmed his desire to proceed with that honor. So did Their Majesties invite that Most Noble Order to join Them in Court, wherein they asked for words from those present as to his worthiness to the Order. Her Highness Gabrielle van Nijenrode spoke as a Rose, Master Bedwyr spoke for Mistress Rhiannon as a Companion of the Pelican, Mistress Alfrun spoke from the Order of the Laurel, Master John the Pell spoke as a Knight, and Mistress Fredeberg spoke as a Companion of the Order of Defense.

Then did They create him a Companion of Their Most Noble Order of the Laurel. Scroll by THL Abigail Kelhoge.

Their Majesties then invited Duchess Caitlin Stuart of the Midrealm into Their Court. Their Majesties spoke of the garb they were wearing at that Court, and how, through her own generosity she helped to create some of the outfits They had worn during Their reign, overcoming some of her own physical challenges in the process. In thanks for her efforts did They give to her an Award of Excellence. Scroll by the Scribes of Æthelmearc.

His Lordship Michael Langley was next called to attend Their Majesties in Court. His Majesty spoke of the long and devoted service Michael had provided to his home Barony of Blackstone Mountain, serving as Baronial herald and completing many tasks that needed to be done to help the Barony succeed. His long service was deemed valuable indeed to the Kingdom, and so was Michael named a Baron of Their Majesties’ Court. Duke Malcolm MacEoghainn was next invited to attend Their Majesties. Earlier in Their reign did Their Majesties command him to consider vigil to the Order of the Pelican, and now having done so, They asked him to confirm his desire to continue with that elevation. Upon his Grace’s confirmation, Their Majesties asked for words from Peers of the realm to confirm his worthiness. Mistress Phiala O’Kelly spoke for the Order of the Laurel, Master Wulfgar o’ the Wood spoke as a member of the Chivalry, Master Christian bore words by Dona Elena as a Master of Defense, and Duchess Linette Semere spoke as a Rose. Finally, Duke Ragnar Blackhammer then spoke as a Companion of the Pelican.
Their words were received by Their Majesties, and so did They deem him worthy of this honor, calling for a medallion and a coif of maintenance to mark his new station. That having been done, Their Majesties then created him a Companion of the Pelican. Scroll by Mistress Bubba Blackhammer.

Their Majesties then called for Baroness Angel Deth to attend them in Court. Her Excellency serves Their Majesties as reign coordinator, but unlike many who have taken on the role, she does so from afar, having joined the Kingdom by treaty and working from outside of the Sylvan lands to ensure that Their Majesties needs were met as They traveled across Their Kingdom. But her history of service extends far longer, including service as a retainer when need, and helping His Majesty’s household and the rest of the Sylvan Army bearing water and food to fighters each year at the Pennsic War. Such service is highly to be honored, and Their Majesties wished for all to know of her value to Æthelmearc. So did they issue to her an Augmentation of Arms. Scroll by Mistress Graidhne ni Ruaidh.

Their Majesties then issued an invitation to the populace to join Them at a party at Æthelmearc Royal later that night to commemorate Count Jehan de la Marche’s 50 years in the society.

Later that night, at the party for Count Jehan:

Their Majesties invited Master Morien MacBain to present himself in Their Court. Master Morien had been of long and continued service to the equestrian community. This work had brought renown to that community and helped to strengthen its activities. So did they add him to Their Order of the Golden Lance. Scroll by Lade Sebastienne la Rousse.

On August 7th, after the Siege and Combat Archery battle:

Their Majesties called for Drotinn Skjoldr Bjorn to attend them on the field. Word of Skjoldr’s accomplishments on the archery range had been passed to Their Majesties, and so did they recognize his high scores and success therein with the title of Master Bowman, and presented him with a token to reflect that rank.

Their Majesties then called for Isteri, Boggvir Ulfuss, Edward the Black, and Aquila Blackmore. Their activities as longtime members of the Bog Siege Crew had reached the ears of Their Majesties, and so were they inspired to add each to the Order of the Scarlet Battery. Individual scrolls would be made available to each in consultation with the Signets.

Later in the evening, at the camp of House Sable Maul:

Their Majesties were joined in Their Court by Their Majesties of Northshield, Konrad and Aibhilin, who were invited with Them as They processed into Court.

Trampas of House Sable Maul was first summoned to appear before Their Majesties. In the year since first attending events with the Society, Trampas had been active both as a heavy fighter, active on the field in defense of the Sylvan Lands. In recognition of his efforts did Their Majesties Award him Arms. Scroll by Mistress Graidhne ni Ruaidh.

Lord Otto Boese was next called to appear in court. Lord Otto’s skill in the arts had been recognized in the past, but his efforts on the field in heavy combat as a shieldman and a combat archer were also found to be valuable indeed to the Kingdom. So did they recognize him as a Companion of the Golden Alce, as issued by Their Ancestor, Queen Anna Leigh in her previous reign. Scroll illumination by Her Excellency Ayesha de Warwick of Ansteorra, calligraphy by Zhirikh Zvezdodrag of Meridies.

Their Majesties then called for Lady Ysabel le Croix to attend them. A great distance lies between her estates and the Kingdom’s land, but that has not stopped her from becoming a citizen of the Kingdom, where she has traveled far to serve Their Majesties as retainer and assist on the field at Pennsic and other events bearing water and food for His Majesty’s House and the rest of the Sylvan Army. For this work did They add her to Their Order of the Keystone. Scroll by Lady Gesa von Wellenstein.

Their Majesties then demanded that Lord Christian Goldenlok to attend them. Though he no longer calls Their Sylvan lands home, he has remained a part of the fabric of the Kingdom, and traveled long and far from the land of Northshield to support Their Majesties during this reign. For his constant service and friendship to Their Majesties did They create him a Baron of Their Court.

But Christian did not provide this service alone. Their Majesties then asked for his Lady, Adelyn Idesbourne to attend them as well. She too, had been devoted to Their Kingdom while a citizen, and been as active as possible after leaving to travel to Northshield. So did they also find her to be worthy of equal recognition to his Excellency Christian, and created her as a Baroness of Their Court. Scrolls for both were the work of Lady Ceindrech verch Elidir and Lord Owen Tegg.

August 8th, on the Battlefield Pavilion after the day’s rapier battles:

Their Majesties called for the presence of Lord Salvatore de la Torres. In recognition of this work did They add him to Their Order of the Golden Alce. Scroll by Lady Sebastienne la Rousse.

Lord Matthias al-Tabai was next summoned to appear before Their Majesties in Court. He, too, had been earning great renown as a rapier fighter of some skill around the Kingdom. They had watched his prowess grow as well, and so did they deem him worthy of entrance to the Order of the Golden Alce also. Scroll by THL Eleanore of Godwin.

Lord Gunnar Ulfrbani was then called before Their Majesties. His Majesty then spoke of how he had seen great valor in defense of the crown from Gunnar earlier on the rapier field. So impressed was He by this, that He added Gunnar to the Order of the Golden Thorn.

Lady Alianora Bronhulle was next brought to Their Majesties’ presence. Few have seen an event where Alianora was not present where she was not serving in some capacity, whether with her bardic gifts, or just helping get things done. Their Majesties were so moved and grateful for this service to Their Kingdom that They added her to Their Order of the Keystone. Scroll is a work in progress.

Lord Tigernán MacFlainn UíFáeláin was next called before Their Majesties. Though a subject of the Kingdom of Calontir, Tigernán had faithfully served Their Majesties in Their travels around the more distant parts of the Known World, and had continued his service here at Pennsic. In gratitude for his assistance did they name him to Their Order of the Keystone. Scroll is a work in progress.

Later that day, at the Battlefield Pavilion after the heavy battles:

His Lordship Cid Hiyo was summoned to Their Majesties’ presence. Having sat vigil in response to Their Majesties’ command earlier in the week, he confirmed to Them his desire to join Their Most Noble Order of the Chivalry. Their Majesties then called for testimony to his worthiness from peers of the kingdom.

Master Robert O’Connor spoke as a Companion of the Pelican, the Order of the Laurel was represented by Master Kieran MacRae, and the Order of Defense by Don Jacob Martinson. Comtesse Elena d’Artois spoke as a Rose of Æthelmearc, and finally did Sir Beatrix Krieger speak for the Order of the Chivalry.

Their Majesties heard those words, and in faith of their truth, did proceed to call for regalia to mark His Lordship’s new station. First was he presented with a caftan, and then spurs were attached to his boots. Next was a white belt laid around his waist, representing his station among the Chivalry. Finally were two chains placed about his neck, first the ancestral chain of the Kingdom, and then one for him to wear for all to know of his new station. These things having been done, His Majesty struck the final unanswered blow, and then did He receive Cid’s oath, and finally did He take the sword of state and create Cid a Knight of the Kingdom of Æthelmearc. Scroll is a work in progress.

Next was His Lordship Arden Scot of Clan Scot summoned to appear in Their Majesties’ Court. As Sir Cid before him, he, too, had sat vigil at Their Majesties’ command, and did confirm upon Their Majesties’ request that he wished to proceed with his elevation. Their Majesties’ then asked for words of support from the Peers of the Realm for his elevation.

First, Lady Margareta le Sayre spoke as one of the Kingdom’s populace. Her Grace Dorinda Courtenay spoke as a Master of Defense, followed by His Excellency Eisenwulf Thorolfsonne as a Royal Peer, and then Countess Liadain ni Dheirdre Chaomanaigh as a Rose of the Kingdom. Viscountess Rosalind Ashworth represented the Order of the Laurel, Master Bataar Sogdo spoke from the ranks of the Pelican, and Duke Malcolm MacEoghainn spoke as a Knight. Finally did Mistress Giulietta da Venezia speak as a Jewel of Æthelmearc.

Hearing those words, and finding them telling indeed, Their Majesties were moved to proceed, and so did call for the trappings of his new rank. Spurs and a belt were first given to Arden to mark his new station as tradition would dictate. Then was he given a cloak and a hood, and finally were three chains presented, the ancestral kingdom chain, an ancestral chain for his house, and then a personal chain for him to wear. Then as Cid before him did he offer his oath, and then after being dubbed with the sword of state, was created a Knight of Æthelmearc.

Later that same day, at the camp of the Black Priory:

His Majesty called for the attendance of her (visibly surprised) Excellency Wilhelmina Boddenham. His Majesty spoke highly of her efforts of the fencing field, working to overcome all obstacles placed in her path to defend her Kingdom as bravely as possible. Citing the high honor brought to His Kingdom and to her Excellency herself by such courage, he created her a companion of the Order of the Golden Alce. Scroll by Mistress Roberta MacMoreland with words by her family of the Black Priory.

That night, at the Æthelmearc Kingdom Party in the Æthelmearc Royal Camp:

Lord Bjarki Rikardrson was first called to attend Their Majesties. Lord Bjarki had been known to Their Majesties for his skill as an archer of Æthelmearc. That skill had continued to grow to the point where he had score high enough to advance in rank. So was he granted the title of Master Bowman, and given a token to reflect his new standing.

Their Majesties took a moment then to speak of the brewing contest held at War, expressing Their gratitude for the number of entries provided, and Their happiness at the skill displayed in those brews. However, in the end, only one person could stand as the winner, and so did They name Lord Ulf Bareleg the winner of the populace brewing contest.

Their Majesties then called for the presence of Lord Sasson della Sancta Victoria. As a scribe of the Kingdom, Sasson had been well-known for his efforts to create beautiful pieces of art to be handed out as scrolls for members of the populace. But his passion for the arts had taken him to many different areas of research, finding information he would then try to share with those who expressed interest. Their Majesties believed his efforts in the arts were beyond that of his current station, and so did They summon to Them Their Most Noble Order of the Fleur d’Æthelmearc, and bid him go from the Court with that Order as one of their number. Scroll by THLady Vivienne of Yardley based on “The Playfair Hours.”

Next was Lady Aine ny Allane called into Their Majesties’ Court. For both Their current reign, and their first one, Aine had been a steady and willing hand, solving whatever problems needed to be solved, and presently serving as head retainer. But more than this, she was known to faithfully record scenes of joy around the kingdom for all to see, whether in her home shire or another kingdom entirely. In recognition of this work, and as a sign of her great value to both Their Majesties and the Sylvan Kingdom, They created her a Baroness of Their Court. August 9th, in the Battlefield Pavilion before the day’s battles:

Their Majesties called for the Kingdom Seneschal, His Grace Christopher Rawlyns. Having served the Kingdom faithfully as seneschal, his term was shortly to expire, and so did he ask Their Majesties to release him from that service, and appoint Mistress Illadore de Bedegrayne to succeed him. Knowing of his work and service, and being glad for it, They did grant him such a release, and after receiving her oath, did invest Mistress Illadore with that office.

Later, in the Battlefield Pavilion after the battle:

After asking both the heavy and rapier warlords to address the Sylvan Army, His Majesty spoke and added his words of thanks to all who had fought or supported the army, or participated in the arts and sciences or any War Point for their commitment and work on behalf of the Kingdom.

But there remained one more piece of business to be done, and with that in mind did he summon to him Abby of Sable Maul. Since the first event she attended, Abby has been a faithful hand to assist at any task that needed done, and could always be found waterbearing for the Sylvan Army at Pennsic and other events. Glad were They to see her devotion and service, and so did They Award her Arms. Scroll is a work in progress.

Finally, having no further business among the populace, the Court of Their Majesties at the 48th Pennsic War was finally closed.
