Report of the Court of King Timothy IV and Queen Gabrielle IV of AEthelmearc from Debatable Lands Twelfth Night, held the eighteenth day of January, A.S. LIV in the Barony Marche of the Debatable Lands. Submitted by Lady Nichola Beese, Herald Extra-ordinary, with editing assistance from Lord Snorri skyti Bjarnarson, Jewel Herald.
Having traveled over the river and through the woods, no matter how the winds doth blow, their Majesties shared their joy at celebrating with their subjects present at Twelfth Night in the Debatable Lands. First the children present were called forward to hunt the bearer of the toybox, with the wily Duke Sven as their opponent and quarry. (Reports indicate His Grace made it outside and hid behind a tree, entering into legend as the first Bearer of the Toybox to actually escape detection long enough to get bored and go hunt the children himself.) Newcomers to the Society and to court were welcomed with similar levels of enthusiasm, though less running.
To the bemusement of all, Their Majesties called forth Master Madoc Arundel to receive his Sycamore, and bade him continue his practice of the brewer’s science. Scroll an engraved glass by the Lady Aurelia Argentia Prima.
Their Majesties called forth Tierrany Rose Orre. For her gracious and self-effacing service to kingdom and barony in the kitchen, among the youth, and in the arts and sciences, she was awarded Arms. Scroll by the Lady Murdia Drusilla Vettia Portia.
Next was called Lord Ronan O’Conaill. Their Majesties noted his repeated service as Kingdom Archery Champion, and his inexplicable lack of award recognizing this skill and service to the Crown. Thus he was inducted to the Order of the Golden Alce. Scroll by Duke Marcus Eisenwald.
Their Majesties then requested the presence of Lord Ishiyama Gen’tarou Yori’ie. For long service to the Kingdom and Barony in many areas, including teaching, hosting sewing circle, and the Woodworkers’ Guild, he was inducted to the Order of the Keystone. Scroll by the Baroness Ekaterina Volkova.
Lady Sumayya al Ghaziyah was next summoned before the thrones. For her service as Kingdom Chronicler she was awarded membership in the Order of the Keystone. Scroll by Lady Nichola Beese.
Their Majesties then called forth Lady Kattera Doplerin. Her dedication to seeing the Barony and Kingdom remain well-fed at peace and at war, a daunting task, was recognized as commendable, and she was thus inducted to the Order of the Keystone. Scroll by Lady Nichola Beese.
The presence of Lady Arthes MacLeod of the Debatable Lands was next requested by Their Majesties. Her skill at the warlike arts, particularly archery, was recognized, and she was therefore inducted to the Order of the Golden Alce. Scroll by Sir Murdoch Bayne.
Lord Skoldr Bjorn was then summoned before the thrones. He is a stalwart defender of the Kingdom upon the archery field, and rewarded with membership in the Order of the Golden Alce. Scroll by THL Dagonell.
Their Majesties called forth Lord Gardner of Elygh. His participation in I Genesii (The Greatest Commedia dell-Arte Troupe in the Known World) and the delight it brings the populace was recognized with induction to the Order of the Sycamore with a scroll by Lady Murdia Drusilla Vettia Portia.
Lord Robert the Baker was summoned by Their Majesties, and recognized for his skill and dedication upon the thrown weapons range. For this, the Order of the White Horn wished to include him in their membership, and he was therefore inducted. Scroll by THL Anlaith ingen Trena.
As her inspiration for the day, Her Majesty summoned Master Urho Waltterinen. As originator and continued organizer of the Barony cookie competition, his actions do much to make Debatable Lands most festive and enjoyable for all, and he was awarded a Golden Escarbuncle.
Their Majesties thanked all the scribes who had contributed to the awards given that day, and gave all tokens of appreciation.
In his closing remarks, His Majesty reminded all present to please write award recommendations for those gentles who are enriching the Kingdom. He thanked the Debatable Lands for the generous and enthusiastic hosting of Their Majesties that day, and the assistance and service cheerfully offered by all.
Lady Nichola Beese was summoned from behind the thrones and inducted to the Order of the Keystone for her service in teaching, fostering the arts, and voice heraldry. Scroll illumination by THL Owen Tegg, calligraphy by THL Ceindrich verch Elidir, on parchment made by the AEthelmearc Parchmenters’ Guild workshop at Pennsic.
There being no further business before Their Majesties, court was then closed.
