Documented from the Rolls and Files of the Coram Regibus of Thomas Byron II Rex and Ariella II Regina, King and Queen of Æthelmearc: Being a True Record of the Business of Their Royal Court at the Iris Festival, Kingdom Equestrian Champs, and Iron Comet, 4 June, Anno Societatis LVII, in the Barony-Marche of the Debatable Lands. As recorded by Gwendolyn the Graceful, Brehyres, Meistr-y-gân, Jewel of Æthelmearc Herald, assisted by The Honorable Lady Nichola Beese.

Their Majesties asked for a moment of silence in remembrance of friends who have left us since our last meeting.

Their Majesties then called Princess Leia to take up the toybox and sent the many, many youth in attendance in pursuit of her.

Their Majesties welcomed the newcomers at the event with drinking vessels.

Following this, Their Majesties gave leave to Their Excellencies Debatable Lands to conduct business of their court.

Upon the conclusion of Baronial Court, Their Majesties summoned Master Morien McBain to entertain the populace with one of the pieces he had composed for the Iris Festival.

Next, Their Majesties welcomed The Honorable Lady Gesa von Wellenstein and Tora-kyo no Shia no Gozen, their outgoing Equestrian Champions, to pass on their regalia to the incoming champions. Master Rhion Elandris of Glyndyfrdwy and Mistress Ysabeau Tiercelin, driving Romeo and Mercutio, were named King’s Equestrian Champions – the first driving team in the Known World ever to enter a kingdom equestrian championship; and Yarden of the Debatable Lands, riding Diamond, took up the mantle of Queen’s Equestrian Champion. Scrolls for both were illuminated by Katrina Beese and calligraphed by The Honorable Lady Nichola Beese.

Their Excellencies, Brandubh et Hilderun, came forward to accept on behalf of Dagon Wrathmonger, whose martial dedication had moved Their Majesties to Award him Arms. Scroll by The Honorable Lady Gesa von Wellenstein upon wording by Master Alaric MacConnal.

Their Majesties next invited The Honorable Lady Hara Kikumatsu and Ishiyama Shonagon Gen’tarou no Yori’ie forward. Speaking with gratitude for the many yards of kumihimo cords, as well as other gifts of time and materials they have donated in favors, garb, and other service to the Crown, Their Majesties provided them each with tokens in testament to naming them recipient’s of the Crown’s Treasure.

Their Majesties then sought The Honorable Lady Violetta da Valencia to speak with her of her brewing and her service to that guild, as well as to the moneyer’s guild. In recognition of this, They declared it proper to name her a Companion of the Order of the Keystone. Scroll by The Honorable Lady Eleanore Godwin.

Their Majesties next requested to be attended by Lord Turlough Feolain and Lady Finé Faolain. His Majesty spoke of Turlough’s magic toolbox, his seeming ability to meet any need when something is broken and in need of fixing. In addition to this and his service to his Barony as a retainer, as well as in the Choir and the Archery Guild, They were moved to make him a Companion of the Order of the Keystone. Scroll by Master Christofano Vecchione.

To Finé, Their Majesties spoke of her constant service–retaining, singing in the choir, setup, cleanup, seeming to be everywhere throughout the day cheerfully and untiringly. For these numerous acts of service, They were well minded to induct her as well to the Order of the Keystone. Scroll illumination by Mistress Graidhne ni Ruaidh, calligraphy by The Honorable Lady Nichola Beese.

Their Majesties, with the assistance of Their Excellencies Debatable Lands, then reached through the aether to demand that The Honorable Lord Owen Tegg attend Their words. Her Majesty reminded His Lordship of the ways in which he has continued to serve Æthelmearc despite being unable to attend events in person due to the continuing plague. Their Majesties then called forward Their Noble Order of the Millrind as witnesses that They saw fit to induct His Lordship among their number at that time. Scroll by The Honorable Lady Gesa von Wellenstein.

Her Majesty then spoke of her inspiration for the day, saying that there could only be one choice–or this day, two, as the reason the event had occurred at all lay in the vision, dedication, and determination of The Honorable Lady Hara Kikumatsu and Ishiyama Shonagon Gen’tarou no Yori’ie. She bestowed upon them Her token in thanks for bringing their vision to reality. In gratitude for their contributions to the day’s Court, Their Majesties invited forward the scribes to select
items to resupply their stock.

There being no further business, Court was closed.

Faithfully Submitted,
