Whether your interest in theater is as patron or player you will enjoy this event. Classes throughout the day will help those wanting to make the theater of the past come alive. There will also be a variety of performances throughout the day. A call for classes and performances will happen starting in February. Watch the website for information.

A refreshing lunch will be prepared by Duchess Brianna and Master Talorgen, and hearty dinner will be served forth by Mistress Fiona Macleod. The cost of both meals is included in the site fee. If you have dietary issues please email the event steward and she will pass on the info to all the cooks
Are you a theater nerd? Do you love to laugh? Then Commedia dell’Arte is for you!
Commedia dell’Arte is an Italian Renaissance form of street theater, with set characters and storylines but no script. All of the lines are improvised, and it’s hilarious fun!
This Saturday, members of the acclaimed Commedia troupe, i Genesii, will teach an entire track of Commedia dell’Arte classes at Æthelmearc Æcademy in the College of Silva Vulcani. There will be seven hours of education in foolery to be had!
Classes will cover Commedia and improv basics, how to write scenarios, stage combat techniques, and hands-on improv games, with the day culminating in a mini-Iron Commedia session where participants will learn and perform a short improv skit in only two hours!
You do not need to attend the entire track – choosing just those classes that interest you is fine – but, if you do go through the entire track, you will have a better understanding of all of the elements of Commedia dell’Arte, and maybe even be ready to form your own troupe back home!
Note: performance material will be kept PG for the Æcademy, so parents need have no fear!

Æthelmearc’s own Shire of Ballachlagan will be hosting the Known World Commedia Symposium. Not only will there be commedia troupes from all over the known world, but the weekend will be a celebration of Renaissance Italian Culture, with classes on Italian dance, fencing, mask making, and more! There will be an authentic period Italian feast, and of course PERFORMANCES! So many performances you might just want to have an extra chair just for all the sitting and laughing you will do!

-Adult Event registration 15.00

-Cabin space for the weekend (while available) is 2.00 per person.

Cabin space is available. Cabins do have limited electrical outlets, but do not have running water. Please reserve ahead for cabin space. There is no tent camping at the event site allowed, however the park does have a separate tent camping area.
