Their Majesties granted leave to Their Excellencies, Padraig and Juliana, to hold a Baronial Court.
Their Majesties then summoned THLady Zosia Kowalewska to appear before Them. They noted that she still wore the belt of fealty to her Pelican, and Summoned Mistress Gillian Llwelyn of Ravenspur to come forward. Mistress Gillian took back her belt and released Zosia from her fealty. Zosia then confirmed that it was her desire to proceed. Their Majesties then called for the Members of the Order of the Pelican and asked that they take Zosia away to Vigil to offer their counsel.
His Majesty opened court by noting what a beautiful day it was and that Their Majesties had truly enjoyed Themselves this day. He further noted that this day was the twentieth anniversary of a National Tragedy and invited all present to raise a glass in honor of fallen friends that we will see again in another life. His Majesty further noted that today was also another anniversary and led the populace in singing Happy Birthday to Her Majesty Liadain.
Their Excellencies Padraig and Juliana were then given leave to hold their Baronial Court.

Their Majesties then summoned THLord Rouland of Willowbrooke to come forward. His Majesty noted that They had not had the chance to hold a tournament to determine the Heavy Weapons Champion of Æthelmearc during Their Reign. They noted that Rouland had stood by Their side, displaying his passion and drive for Æthelmearc holding the Sword of State and supporting Them throughout the Reign. For this service to Æthelmearc, Their Majesties then named THLord Rouland as Their Champion, to stand as the Heavy Weapons Champion of Æthelmearc until Their Heirs are able to hold a tournament to find Their Champion.
Baroness Anastasie Delamour, the Kingdom Thrower General, was invited into Court. Anastasie thanked Their Majesties for the opportunity to complete some business for her office. Here continues the Record of the Second Reign of King Gareth and Queen Juliana, Monarchs of Sylvan Æthelmearc, upon the Festival of the Passing of the Ice Dragon, April 13, AS 53, in Their Barony of the Rhydderich Hael; as reported by THL Arias Beltran del Valle, Jewel of Æthelmearc Herald, with the assistance of Countess Margerite Eisenwald, Baroness Ekaterina Volkova, and Lord Fiachna mac Cennetig.

Her Excellency Margerite Eisenwald asked for a moment of time to announce her intention to take Lord Sasson della Sancta Victoria as her protege, asking the populace to direct praise to him and concerns to her.

Their Majesties’ Court was then suspended.
In the afternoon, on the heavy lists:
Their Majesties called for Lord Bovi Davisson to attend Them. Word of his combat prowess had reached Their Majesties, especially when armed with glaives or fighting with two weapons. They had received counsel from others who has witnessed his skill, and so did They call to Their presence the Noble Order of the Gage, and add Bovi to that Order.
Their Court was once again suspended.
In the evening:
Their Majesties invited Their cousins Ozurr and Fortune, King and Queen of the East to join them in their Court, as did they then invite Their Excellencies of the Hael a second time.

Their Majesties then received the Oath of their Excellencies of the Endless Hills Verdi and Fiona, as they had been unable to greet Their Majesties on the occasion of Their Coronation the week prior.

Their Majesties then invited Maestro Filippo de Sancto Martino to join them in Their Court. Maestro Filippo had long been known for his service to the Kingdom, and known around the Sylvan lands for his joy at bringing joy to many others. Their Majesties and many others in the Kingdom know that where merriment and hospitality can be found, often so can Filippo be found as well. For this did They add him to Their Order of the Howling Wolf.

THL Hrolf a Fjarfelli was next summoned to appear before Them in Their Court. Her Majesty spoke of her joy at seeing his work in weaving around the Kingdom, and had followed his progress with great interest, as he made beautiful works to be seen by all. Amongst the populace who bore witness to his craft were companions of the Most Noble Order of the Laurel. They had found his work to be of the highest quality as well, and so did Their Majesties invite that Order to Their presence so that they may take him forth to consider elevation to their number. Before he could be borne away, Mistress Matilda Bosvyle begged a boon from Their Majesties, bringing words from his Lordship’s peer, Master Fridrikr, sent to the Court from distant corners of Drachenwald, congratulating him and bidding him to behave until he such time as he would take his place in that Order. Scroll by Mistress Graidhne ni Ruiadh.

She found that selfless work inspiring, and so did She name him Her Inspiration for the day, and awarded him a Golden Escarbuncle.

Editor Note: During morning court the Baron and Baroness of the Rhydderich Hael, the King and Queen, and other gentles gave many gifts to the Guest of Honor, Make-a-Wish child Sir Thomas the Mighty. Here continues the Record of the Reign of Gareth and Juliana, King and Queen of Sylvan Æthelmearc at the Festival of the Passing of the Ice Dragon, April 14, AS 52, in Their Barony of the Rhydderich Hael; as recorded by Lord Arias Beltran del Valle, Jewel of Æthelmearc Herald, with the support of THL Sophie Davenport, Silver Buccle Herald, Baroness Ekaterina Volkova, Ice Dragon Pursuivant, Baron Liam mac an Tsaoir, Sycamore Herald, and Lady Ragna Hakonardottir.
In the morning:
Their Majesties Gareth and Juliana in turn called before them Mistress Mahin Banu Tabrizi, THL Elska a Fjarfelli, and THL Gytha Oggsdottir, asking if each was prepared to sit vigil to contemplate elevation to become one of Their Peers. Each answering in the affirmative, they were then sent to the place that had been prepared for them.
Their Majesties then called for Their Most Noble Order of the Pelican to attend Them. Having confirmed their number was fewer than appropriate, They then invited Countess Margerite Eisenwald to appear before Them. Her Excellency confirmed her desire to be counted among the Order. Their Majesties then heard words from those who would support her elevation. Ursula’s labors on behalf of the kingdom in many roles had reached Their ears, including time spent serving as Authorization Clerk, autocrat, and more. Throughout Their reign, Their Majesties’ custom had been to offer a drinking vessel to those new members, but so many had attended they had run out of cups to pass along. So did They share a token with those new to the Society with the hope that they would return to other events in the future.

Lord Arias Beltran del Valle was then called to Court, where he was released from his oaths to serve as Jewel of Æthelmearc Herald, returning his tabard to be held in safe-keeping until his successor was invested before taking his leave and joining the populace in Their Court. However, Their Majesties bid him return to Their Presence. They noted his service as Jewel Herald and his efforts around Their home Shire of Misty Highlands. From the Minister of A&S, THL Renata Rouge, and Faire Autocrat Mistress Ekaterina Volkova:
Two more days to register for the Æthelmearc Arts & Sciences Faire and Queen’s Prize Tourney!
But Ren, my documentation isn’t done. I don’t know what I need to put in it…
STOP. Take a deep breathe, my friend. This is a lower-stress A&S event. It isn’t Ice Dragon; you will not lose points because of a lack of documentation. In fact, this is the perfect opportunity to get feedback from experienced artisans in the Kingdom about how to write your documentation. And if you are not as strong with your writing skills, you get to TALK about your project, process, and arts in a supportive, encouraging environment.
But Ren, my arts are just not good enough!!
SAYS WHO? What better way to get suggestions on how to take it to the next level than a consultation with experienced artisans? We’ve had past entrants who have been in the SCA less than a year, peers, and everyone in between. Every artisan is welcome and every artisan is respected, and I guarantee that every one of us other artisans have felt “not good enough,” too.
But Ren, my project isn’t finished!!
That’s completely okay — in-process projects are just fine! You will be getting feedback before the project is finished, which can greatly help you in the next steps.
Okay, I’m almost convinced. Is it difficult to register?
For those who also enjoy martial activities, there will be fencing and fighting at the event. Because this is first and foremost an Arts and Sciences event, any gentle wishing to put on armor of any kind is required to put a piece of art or science that that have made on display. This does not enter them into the Faire, but does encourage participation in the Arts and Sciences. You must put your item on display before checking in with the MoL and she will require proof of your display. Limited art supplies will be available day of the event, but please consider bringing something with you.
The site is pet friendly! However, please be advised that while pets are allowed on the grounds and in the hall, it is requested that all animals be leashed and kept away from the kitchen and dayboard. Please pick up after your animal. The autocrat reserves the right to ask all ill-behaved animals to leave.
